If you are a musician and you are considering working for this company because “working in a music store sounds fun!”, well I hate to break it to you, it’s very far from being “fun”. An old school company, run by poor and slimy management makes this the least enjoyable place to work at. I wanted to work at this place because a) it WAS my favourite store and b) music is my passion. Working for Long & McQuade has totally changed my views on the company and I refuse to support it in any way.

Management. That’s 100% why I left. One manager has taken over all management roles. No assistant manager, no supervisors. Just him. He does not care about employees and that’s why they are dropping like flies. You’re better off working somewhere else. Spare yourself. Do not work for this company. This store needs new management in order for it to successfully move foreword. It seems like head office and the higher ups could care less about what is happening in this store. It would be smart for them to step in and actually do something. Please. This store is losing valuable staff members and because of this, the store is losing long-time customers.

The interview process was simple, an initial interview then a follow up to clarify details if necessary. Following those two processes I was offered the job. There were instances where some prospects needed a third interview (to meet regional management, references etc.) or were hired after one interview.

Long & McQuade. What a horrible and toxic work environment to be in. You’d think it would be fun to work in a music store. Think again. Management, and even Head Office could care less about you. You’re easily replaceable and they do not show respect toward their employees at all. Very slimy people in the business. Management will often lie to your face. Things really need to change or else this company will continue to falter.
