Great workplace for students to gain experience
As a student, there were a lot of opportunities for hands-on experience. The staff were always warm and welcoming! Management was open to students taking on more responsibilities if needed.

As long as you are keeping within guidelines you are ok
Good people working to gether for the benefit of the children and peers. Board office can be sterile environment to work in but I loved working in the schools.

Working with children and youth who need us!
To be very honest as an Educational Assistant it's very rewarding when you see your student(s) progressing. The unfortunate part of being an EA you will encounter Administration and Teachers that can make your life miserable! No support from your Union either. In this role you get ahead if you're a YES person. Don't get injured because it's your fault. Coming in as a new Staff member I've never seen such disrespect towards Educational Assistant's. Other Educational Assistants don't bother with you, and are very territorial! Its like being in school again trying to make friends. In my experience the majority of teachers can be quite mean. When you report a teacher keep in mind Principals will go to great lengths to protect that teacher even when multiple complaints have been brought to their attention about the same teacher. Many Educational Assistant's have suffered serious injuries. I've listened to so many stories and the outcome is the same. In my experience and from what I've seen and experienced, this was just not for me. The benefits are great. The pay does not match the responsibilities, and you are subjected to some students that can seriously hurt you. A lot of favouritism goes on. If you're a YES person this is the job for you. As for me I am not.

Professional environment
The importance of students needs is always at the forefront of the mind for educators. Working in the environment of LDSB this was all clear. Supportive coworkers and senior staff worked collaboratively with all staff to forward this significant goal.

Casual cleanings
I worked at Limestone school board fir 5 years as causal cleaner.. Mine time there stared out good but in the end got really stressful.. I was bullied and harassed everyday day I was there, by my boss.. I could never do anything right.. The pay is great, if you can get the hours.. You will never get in full time unless you are family.. Great benefits and I learned a lot there.. just wish is there was better management.
