Worse place to work if you're raising a family
weighmaster/ Bulkloader (Former Employee) –  Alabama27 April 2019
Got injured no fault of my own and reported it to the proper authorities
And was juggled Thur be and terminated... Without comp .. It is also a so call (UNION JOB) IN ALABAMA
but they just wanted more money to fund the vacation trips to conference meeting
This company is a big clique if you don't kiss A😜😜 you will not fit....💯
Most of the Union officers sell out members due to other people dislikes ...
Hardest part of job is bitting your tongue with the unfair treatment you see on others
Pros
Money was decent
Cons
Management try to invent ways to fire Employees. To keep overhead cost low

Industrial Electrician/Mechanic (Former Employee) –  Clifton, TX11 February 2019
Watched many people be looked over for promotions or new positions simply because they weren't friends with those in management positions. Good benefits and retirement packages though.

Great Coworkers, Weird Management Culture
Quality Control Lab Technician (Former Employee) –  Henry, TN6 February 2019
Loved my coworkers, management occasionally blames people for things that weren't anyone's fault. Things slip through the cracks easily and the people at the bottom have to pay for it. Managers do not always practice the skills they're supposed to learn in management training and it can feel like they're out to get you fired for no reason. Job security is essentially a joke.

The job does pay well for the area and I think that the work is enjoyable. Company provides good benefits.
Pros
Good benefits, overtime pay, high salary for the area
Cons
Employees feel micromanaged, Management doesn't trust anyone, Can be oppressive workplace culture, No job security

Leadership team is disconnected with the plants and workers
Production Manager (Current Employee) –  Amargosa Valley, NV9 January 2019
The corporate leadership is disconnected from the plants and from the people in the field. There is little upward mobility for people in the company management positions are generally hired from an outside source. Workers below the corporate level are not taken seriously and not treated with respect.
Pros
The pay is good
Cons
No upward mobility oportunities

They throw people away like trash
Terminal manager (Former Employee) –  Nichols, FL2 January 2019
I questioned some bad decisions management made and filed a complaint about it now I'm unemployed. The only time I heard from senior management was when something out of my control happened. Never given any kind of "a job well done " by them. Over 17 years accident free while I was the manager.

The mining industry is hard but pays well
Maintenance Management Intern (Former Employee) –  Calera, AL13 November 2018
Lhoist is better than most. Everyone is friendly, but faces do not last long. The work can be hazardous and upper management will often care more about short term goals than long term impacts.

Process Control/Kiln Operator (Former Employee) –  Calera, AL12 November 2018
There is decent pay for some of the jobs at this location. Not much of a fair chance for career advancement. A very big separation between management and subordinate/hourly employees with not much of a team atmosphere.

Good Pay/Stability Questionable Management
Safety (Current Employee) –  NA1 October 2018
Overall a good company. They take good care of and compensate their employees well. The leadership of the organization could use some help. The matrix structure causes some confusion and leaves managers with responsibility and no authority to direct change. The bureaucratic nature of the European vs. US operating cultures can also be a challenge.

They have high expectations but if you want good pay and good stability this is a good company.

Challenging place to work
PLANT ENGINEER/MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (Current Employee) –  New Braunfels, TX22 September 2018
The plant is dirty and hot, but to be expected from a mining facility. Career advancement can sometimes be a problem as well. There's a pretty wide genertation gap in the plant as well.
Pros
Great people.
Cons
Lack of career advancement

The company it self was great. Once you got into management it great. Did have to put in some long hours most of the time.
Alabaster Plant Site Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Alabaster, AL8 September 2018
It was very hard to get promoted with in the company. It didn't matter how much you knew about the job if you did not have a degree or knew the right people and was friends with them you was not going to get promoted.
Pros
Good benefits, and some times good managers, good pay for the job
Cons
Long hours, and had to be in the click to het promoted most of the time.

I enjoyed my time there. It can be a labor intensive job and times. If you have back, knee or shoulder issues this job is not for you. Breathing issues as well its a very dusty job
