Shift Supervisor in New Waterford, NS
on 12 September 2020
i liked workung there inwas there 21 years
I enjoyed working at lawtons drugs. I decided to retire early after 21 years . I only had one complaint was the wage cashiers that were there less than 10 years were making my same rate.

Toxic
This company pays their employees ridiculously low wages for what they’re expected to do. Always short staffed at most stores. Pharmacy assistants are preferred to have a university degree and have a starting pay of 12.55?? Everything regarding job security is handled with pacifist hands and indirect statements. Have seen employees fired for absolutely ridiculous reasons just to keep others happy.

Great flexibility, ridiculously low wages.
Lawtons is a decent place to work if you're retired, or a student that needs part-time hours or a flexible schedule, but not if you need to pay your bills! Paid .10 cents above minimum wage to run the store alone on nights, and expected to go above and beyond every single shift, or lose hours and $$ Management was spiteful and vindictive to employees, and constantly gossiping blatantly around others.

Ok for a starting job
I worked here since I got my first job at 16 and the job itself was fine but management does not appreciate their employees the way they should. I never felt quite appreciated here and worked with cashiers working 20+ years making the same as I was working for 3+ years so I can’t imagine how they felt. The pay really is bare minimum, you have to push hard for a raise. I met a lot of amazing people working here, however this is not the place to look for a long-term career.

Ok job, if your flavor is vanilla.
The location i worked at was in a bad part or town, you'd get all kinds of shady characters coming in. It was almost entertaining. Working in recieving was the best part of the store. Hard to accomplish tasks as they we're hard to complete with managers and supervisors piling them on top of you. Then you'd get chewed out for not being able to complete them because you were helping customers. you'd be helping customers on the floor and not able
