THEATRE MANAGER in Nanaimo, BC

Fun place to work
Great place to work, but rememberm with the service industry, you "work while others play" meaning expectto work weekends and ALL holidays. Fast pace/fun environement

Fun and easy, weird hours
Perfect first job. The actual work is very easy and independence is not expected for quite a while. Open 365 with early starts and late nights means you could be stuck with inconsistent shift times.

Nice employees and management was ok
however you will be switching from several positions throughout the week. Training is limited, if you have previous experience as a cashier you will be thrown onto cash. Ushering was my absolute least favourite position out of all of them. Having the clean all 24 theatres in between each movie was absolute torture and even if there’s one kernel of popcorn left on the floor, management will yell at you. Cash and popcorn were my fav positions.

great place to start out
overall everyone is pretty great here, your co-workers are mostly teenagers, hours can be flexible and some late nights, the job itself is fairly simple

Wouldn’t recommend my worst enemy
If you enjoy being overworked overtired unappreciated and overall depressed you should definitely apply here!!! Riddled with gossip, and an incredibly toxic and hostile working environment. Also every location is extremely clicky, so have FUN WITH THAT. AND THE PAY IS TERRIBLE.

Interview questions

I applied for experience manager position. It was a telephone interview. Lasted about 20-25 minutes. They asked me how I thought my previous work experience matched the role? and what approach I would take towards people management? I was also asked if I was comfortable working until 11pm. I have to wait now a day or so before they decide to offer me or not a second interview which would be virtual one. Fingers crossed 🤞

Initially we started with a group interview where we built with legos a certain film character . In my opinion this exercise really helped ease the nerves and help you realize its a very realxed interview. They asked when was a time where you went out of your way to help someone, what are good qualities that make up a worker (tha you posses) , what accomplishment are you most proud of / what obstacles did you have to face . I ended up getting the job and overall it was a very easy experience. Be confident! You got this
