Lakeland Long Term Care is a great job for Men and women fresh out of College and University

What is the best part of working at the company?People were friendly and very easy to get along with. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The most stressful thing is the TIME CONSTRAINTS. Getting people dressed , and up in their chairs before the end of my shift. I worked night shifts by the way. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The work environment is good. The RN'S AND RPN'S do help us PSW'S with our job. What is a typical day like for you at the company? It is a busy day. Lots of people to look after and there is usually emergencies that can happen

Work work work , not enough time

I had my knees operated on. Lakeland couldn't wait for me to heal so they let me go. Not fair to do this to a hard working individual. I was literally pushed away from my job position.2 years later and they need PSWs , I called and they said they are not hiring. This is not fair to the residents.

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Not appreciated for what i do

Need more staff

Love the residents n coworkers. Dont like hiring ppl without taking PSW course bc it's up to us to train them n they pretty much dont know how to operate lifts or what kind of care is needed. Def need more staff esp now that pandemic is here n the residents cannot have their families in . They need more time to do care also . Everything is rushed . But do love my job ..

good luck

Atmosphere and management are terrible. Chronically understaffed and this LTC home won’t last long. Staff are leaving in droves due to poor management and abuse from other staff as well as residents. Clients are left without basic care a lot of the time due to staffing issues, and staff burn out is at an all time high.

Love my job! Love my coworkers! Love my residents! Luke the fact I can choose my shifts and what days except the 2 I'm I have to work as that's my line! I like the fact I only have to work 45 hrs every 2 weeks to get my benifits

Pros

Good hours to work no 12 hour shifts

Cons

Not enough staff! Hard work

Great Place to work

Worked here in 2013. Enjoyed working here. Great DRC and staff. Learned a lot here and met a lot of great health care workers. Hardest part was leaving. If I had to choose a LTC home for my loved ones to go to I would pick Lakeland first.

Great work environment

I enjoyed working there as a recreation student. The atmosphere was very welcoming and I enjoyed what I was doing. The grounds were well maintained and the staff would go above and beyond for their residents.

Pros

Great place to work

Cons

I only worked there as a summer student

Good Learning Workplace

A typical day at work would include dispensing medications, wound care, tube feedings, documentation, and much more. I learned professionalism, how to manage Health care aids, and documentation. Management was very good for assisting in the learning process, and being available if one had questions. My co-workers were as well very available for assistance when needed. Hardest part of the job was learning to fit in with the workplace culture, as each workplace is different. The most enjoyable part of the job was the residents in which I cared for, and seeing the difference I made in their lives.

Pros

Workplace interested in keeping staff happy so they would want to continue working there.

Cons

Mostly evening shifts, not many day shifts.
