When it was just lafarge it was great

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
They used to value their employees and those who put in many years and dedication but not the same since they became Lafargeholcim, now employees are just numbers and not approached or sought out if they have qualifications for a higher position. Used to love this company but it’s has changed for the worse when it comes to how they treat their employees.

Pros

Benefits are good.

Cons

Long hours no appreciation

Prefer not to give review

Good experience other than working with the odd lunatic. A lot more waiting around than actual work but sometimes that is expected in construction. Would work with them again but not the same crew I was with nor doing the same job I had.

Not a great place to work if you have a family

Went there thinking it would be a great fit for me, since I had experience in the Ready Mix field as a driver already. But the culture is that the job is number one and that is it. Management complained if you took longer than 15 minutes pre-tripping your vehicle; which is crazy since as a junior driver you are in a different truck everyday. Dispatch is not very good, nor is management Not a great place to work if you have a family or like to have a life outside of the job.

Enjoyed working with the coworkers and management.

Home every day with a decent pay and benefits is great as a truck driver with training and experienced drivers to learn from makes work worthwhile. I would suggest this career to drivers who have experience driving and want to sleep in their own bed every night.

Yes you have to enjoy what you are doing

If you do not enjoy what you are doing your day will be a rough time because everything is always changing from job to job different sites all basically have the same rules and regulations but some are not always followed so you have to bring your own rules of safety into play at every job site big or small

Pros

Sometimes management is always doing something

Cons

It's construction it's always long hours

Seasonal

Lafarge was a seasonal job. I was employed during the spring and summer and fall months and randomly during winter months at a call in basis. Good company

Great opportunity

Was looking forward to permanent position with LafargeHolcim - great place to work, but shortage of work resulted in being laid off which is too bad, but now am looking for work somewhere else.

Pros

good job with great pay

When its busy there is opportunity for a lot of overtime but the work is not year round which causes the employees lower on the seniority list to look elsewhere for winter work

Informative and fun place to work

Overall it was a good place to work. They made sure the employees got the trainjng they needed to do the job and do it safely. The people I worked with took their job seriously, but also had fun doing it. Working at lafarge for 31 years allowed me to live a very comfortable life while learning some of the skills I have to offer you.
