I wouldn't apply here unless I knew someone high up in management, or you'll see yourself going nowhere fast.

Old school ways of thinking, and nepotism ruined what was shaping up to be a long and fruitful career. Employees will use any little bit of power given to them to make it to the next level . Bullying and discrimination are largely ignored by Human Resources.

Pros

income of up to and even exceeding 100k a year

Cons

long hours and shift from nights to days

Awful place to work, ungrateful dangerous shift work

Extremel nepotism, too many bosses, top heavy. No emphasis on safety. Ask staff to work too quickly, no matter the danger of the road being worked on. One guy gets no slack for wrecking 13 trucks, One guy does $30,000 damage to a building with no repercussions . then three guys with impeccable records were fired after minor incidents that didn’t cause any company costs. Don’t even apply

Pros

None

Cons

Stay away... unless you’re a family member or friend

My experience

Working at Lafarge was by far the best job I’ve ever done it may have been slow but I made my nights and days go by fast as I could I was a shingle operator working 12hour shifts 2days then 2 nights them 4 off was a good gig. My job title was to slow for my likings but over all a great place to work

All bunch of drunks

From the foreman down safety is an issue. And drunken workers everywhere. I am surprised that main office in Calgary doesn't know about it. know about it

Enjoyable and competative

Mix and deliver concrete to various locations in and around Fort McMurray. I enjoyed working there but had to leave because of lack of work available.

Cons

can have some extremely long hours

Productive

It is a fast paced environment, long days but full of work (always something to do). Variety of jobs and experiences. Good people that work there. Hard part of the job is long hours and heavy lifting.
