When people ask about working for LL Bean, I tell them I didn’t “have” to go to work, I got to go to work. My team was a family, and I was treated with respect from the store manager down. If you’re looking for an easy hourly job where you can sleepwalk through a shift, sure - you can do that anywhere. You won’t want to do that at LL Bean. If you love the outdoors, you’ll be happy - it’s what draws people - employees and customers to LL Bean. If you show some initiative, you may be placed in a position in which you’re paid to play outside...

Nice people

Nice people and the breaks are amazing!! One break for working 4 hours and when working 6 hours, a whole 40 minutes I believe of a break!! I worked there as a seasonal worker.

I worked at Bean for a year & a half. I love the company! The pay was decent (as a student), my coworkers were friendly & the discount was great. However, the management at this store was incredibly poor. Scheduling was never good/flexible & I felt like I was walking on eggshells a fair amount of the time. Management was also discriminatory towards me, personally, based on gender identity. I wish I could have stayed but I had to resign.

Days at work would vary depending on the position I was working. If I was working in the camping and travel section, I would need to be a bit more conscientious when interacting with customers and knowing about the products they were potentially buying. If I was working in the backpack section, the product features were much easier to know about, but the section was much more cramped and busy due to the back to school season. L.L. Bean was one of my favorite companies to work for due to the ease of the environment and customers I got to interact with. There were rarely any dull days at work when I would find myself with nothing to do, which I really appreciated. The hardest part of the job was having to balance more than one customer at once, and the look of disappointment in a kid's face if we sold out of the specific backpack they wanted.

Working at L.L. Bean is something I truly enjoy. The atmosphere is so friendly and welcoming. The core values of the company are very much orientated to making sure that their employees are in a safe and enjoyable workplace. I love working for a company that backs their products and ensures that all of their products are up to customer standards. The team that I work with is a new team put together by our store managers and district manager. Working with a fresh new team has been great, as all of us co-workers get to learn and grow with the company together. The hardest part of the job is probably maintaining the selling floor throughout the day, as our company stores are known for being very clean and neat. Although that is yet another reason i enjoy working with the company as they make known that their stores are going to be inviting and easy to navigate. The most enjoyable part of my job is that I one of the monogrammers on staff; so during back-to-school season monogramming tons of backpacks and making each one special for all those who ordered them brings me great joy that I can make those customers purchases special.

Awesome company, poor management, boring work

L.L. Bean as a corporate entity is supposed to be pretty green and environmental. The Burlington, VT location is far from it: we threw out whole trashcans of plastic wrappings and bags in the regular trash compactors. We tossed quality 3 items in the normal trash as well. it didn't sit right with me. Some of the coworkers were cool to work with. My managers were pretty bad though. They were always stressed out even when nothing was happening. They seemed to have a vendetta against me. I did my job well, yet I was slowly weaned off the schedule until I didn't work for a month and was forced to find another job. This continued until six months later and I STILL didn't officially know if I was fired, and had to go in and terminate my employment. Very unprofessional. The job itself was fine during the holiday seasons, otherwise it was the most boring job I have ever had. No one shopped there except in November-December, and yet I would be expected to find something to do like fold a whole wall of clothing that was immaculate from the day before.
