Fast Paced, well payed, uncertainty

Indeed featured review

Komat was a great place to work to pick up any number of essential and valuable skills. Here you'll learn to operate heavy machinery and drive on ice roads. A long with a wealth of knowledge of dealing with diesel engines in a winter climate. There is a great deal of uncertainty in the oil field industry but that is a constant problem in the industry.Typical day consists of maintenance and operation of heavy equipment.Hardest part of the job is dealing with the environment in winter. Most enjoyable part of the job is learning and the pay.

Pros

well payed, lots of hands on experience

Cons

uncertain hours, harsh working environment in the winter

Good co-workers, terrible management

Basically no schedule, zero work/life balance. These guys couldn't care less about you, and care even less about paying you properly. Most of the iron is garbage, and most of the trucks will fail a pretrip miserably if you do it properly. They could care less about fixing anything. If you have zero experience, and want a job.... this is probably the place for you.

Pros

Decent pay

Cons

Zero life balance, no set schedules, junk iron, constant payroll problems, terrible management

difficult management

owner playes head games, pretends to care. would have been a good place to work but between him and zero schedule it was very hard to stay happy and feel good about anything.

I loved working there.

Great company to work for they pay for travel, wages that’ll make you want to stay there. Safety is key and will train and be patient with you and help you understand and explain it in a way everyone will. Great guys to work for a few young guys but mostly experienced guys who will tell you how to do your job and do it safely

good high paying job with room to grow

A lot of time away from home but great opportunity to make a great salary. Typical day has you wake up get dressed ind your gear and show up 2 work site. you then talk to your counterpart and talk about any information that needs to be passed along from the shift previous and you take over from them. a roughneck maintains the work equipment when possible and aids in operation of the drilling by lubrication of the pipes and assisting the driller with tripping in and out of drill pipe

Pros

free lunches

Cons

long hours and dangerous conditions

Very fun place to work

I got hired through a Kijiji ad I had replied to and was immediately hired on the spot due to my past work experience. Was an awesome fun place to work.

Best place I've ever worked

Working for Komat changed my life in a very positive way. It's a small company and if you stick around, they'll treat you like family. I'd highly recommend this employer.

Great ma & pa outfit

Small company, personal atmosphere, and top notch employees made this a great company to work for. Hours are long and require hard work but what job doesn't in Alberta's oil patch.

Hard, long hours, cold weather, but worth it.

12 hour shifts, driving vac and water truck between sights. Gained more experience driving on ice roads, co-workers worked well together.

Pros

pay cheque

Cons

travel to office on days off, should have been able to stay where every you liked.
