The work place encouraging to acquire more skills and knowledge.

Over all a great place to work with safety culture. Supervisors are helpful with long years experience and trouble shooting. The safety lessons one can imbibe will be a great asset in career.

Awesome

Treated like family, amazing money, amazing projects. Always room to grow. Took a chance leaving home to go work for these guys up in a camp style workplace and have never regretted the experience and projects I've been part of and now have my name attached forever

Pros

Great money

Cons

Contract work

Surprised management hasn't killed anyone

Spent about a year working on the IPPL project. The CM is a scaffolder, the PM drives around site smoking in his company issued vehicle, but if you check the time on your phone you're gonna get written up. Out of all the places I've worked, this place is fueled by nepotism and incompetence. You have first year apprentices that are GFs just because their brother is a superintendent, and they have to classify him as an equipment operator since his apprenticeship has been cancelled. You also have a "union" steward that is supervision, how that makes senses I have no idea.

Pros

Everyone hates the place as much as you do

Cons

They pay garbage wages, and anyone giving direction is super incompetent

Dont waste your time

Disorganized, clicky. Disaster . Empty promises. Dont bother with trying to make a spot for yourself they will discard you like you are nothing even after being loyal and showing up every day .

I wouldn't recommend working here!!

They are notorious for hiring skilled tradesmen and apprentices, then laying them off right before their 3 months, only to hire a new batch of people a week later. The work culture here is poor. Everyone is miserable and on edge about job security. A lot of the Forman are bullies and the supers go along with it. Save yourself a lot of stress and keep job searching elsewhere.

Depends who you are

Mod yard.... excellent place to work. Site work.... is painful, ran like a prison. Write ups around every corner. More white hats then yellow hats. Management can’t even get on the same page. No order to any operation, Big time favoritism, 13 hr days getting paid for 10. This economy sucks. F U Trudeau.

Great company to work for.

I would recommend anyone looking for work, to work for kiewit. It was a great work environment. Co-Workers and staff were excellent. Pay was great. Advancement was very possible. Team work was always considered before individual projects.

Large Multinational company where you are just a number to them but the supervisors you work with are top notch.

Steady work pace without being overwhelmed. strong safety driving culture but not very forgiving. They do show appreciation to their worker in the form of give aways and bbq.

Challenging and fast paced

High expectations but a very fun place to work with a unique pay structure as the company is employee owned. The culture is very supportive but also very fast paced and performance driven.

Poor work/life balance

Expected to always put work first and involves working long hours for low compensation when out on projects away from home. When working locally in the office the pay is fair and hours are acceptable. Good RRSP matching and benefits.

Pros

Benefits

Cons

Working away
