Kids and Company has so many brilliant minds working under one roof. It’s a beautiful experience to learn and grow alongside your team when you work for KidCo. You truly feel appreciated, and you know fundamentally that you are in the right place to make a positive impact on every child who walks through the door. KidCo was also so wonderful to me through my health crisis. I felt so supported, and it made recovery and returning to work much less dreadful.I enjoyed every day at KidCo and I’m thankful for everything I learned while on the team.

Terrible Executive Management

The executive management, including the CEO, care more about making money than they do about their employees. At the center where I worked, they would often take in more kids than they had employees, therefore, making parents wait at the center with their child until there was enough staff to accommodate them. Unfortunately, the center's director's hands were tied when it came to this and she had to do what upper management wanted. The executive also lacked an understanding of how this particular center operated and would therefore, try to make changes without realizing the impact on the staff or the children in the center. When they did visit, which was sparingly, they would often not greet the staff or when they did, it was to tell us what to do, usually saying we were doing it the wrong way. In general, they didn't treat staff very well, therefore, there was a lot of turnover throughout the years.The director of the center on the other hand was great, but executive management treated her poorly as well, and as a consequence, she left the center. Now I hear it is really bad there - understaffed and outside management brought in from another center in Ontario that lacks the understanding of how this center operates.The pay is also very low (it is unionized and this is mostly a union problem) and the benefits aren't the best. There is no company group RSP. The only positive experience was working with some of the people there. However, there is so much turnover it was tough sometimes to get to know people.Overall, a very negative work experience.

When something happens, manager always complains and blames the employee, not try to solve problems. There is no fair in the center, the result is employees complaining each other and no one is happy for this job.

fun workplace

Early Childhood Educator (Placement) (Former Employee) - Oakville, ON - 13 June 2023

very nice staff, families and supervisor. Best daycare in Oakville, the staff are very nice, supportive, professional and understand our child’s needs. The place itself is very clean, bright rooms, and there is camera make you see our child all the time. This day care centre is centrally located between highway 401, 403, 407 and QEW for busy Moms and Dads. There is ample parking and ease of picking up and dropping off. Open concept space is very safe.Both structured and unstructured play areas and brightly-lit classes are fun and loving. Friendly and qualified staff add to the value of service here.

Stressful place for work.

The worst place to work. Unrespectful managers. They don't pay 4 dollars of government to educators. I don't recommend this place to educators and parents.

The wages were horrible and the work not worth the money. Management listens to what FT have to say - even if it is untrue - without speaking directly to you. Not a company you wanna be. Especially in child care

I can honestly count on one hand the days that I didn't want to go to work - I have always felt supported throughout my career with Kids and Company. I have worked with Kids and Company for quite a while and have enjoyed the opportunity to work & support different centres (in different cities and provinces) . I started as an ECE, then was quickly promoted to an assistant director then director (ECE/IT/SNE) - A Head Office career never really appealed to me as I enjoy being in the centres and around children. I was even able to have my children attend the centre I ran when they were younger.I love that there is the opportunity to transfer locations and that they promote from within and as the company grew I never felt like I was working for a large company as everyone feels like "family" to me. The proprietary programming helps keep the curriculum enriched and the children are fed delicious and nutritious cooked from scratch meals.Staff are offered lots of employee perks, but the hardest part for me is always saying "good bye" when children leave the centre for any reason.

Great Coworkers and Management

Fun and well-run daycare. Staff are amazing and management is very flexible. Pay is slightly low for ECEA but it is around the same everywhere else. Minimal cleaning and a good system to ensure teachers aren’t burnt out.

This place is a joke. Staff are severely underpaid and overworked. Management is not much help either because they are also stressed out and overworked by corporate. We are expected to follow rules and curriculum set out by Ministry, but are not given the things needed to do so. We don’t even get bathroom breaks let alone materials to do activities or crafts with the kids - activities that are required to do. Cooperate fills our classrooms with too many kids that we cannot accommodate for and expects us to deal with it. So they can make more money while we make nothing. Then they sprinkle on a pizza day and hope that makes everything okay. This company is toxic and does not deserve the hardworking employees they have.

Extremely low wage

Expect being lied to, underpaid and stressed out on a daily basis. The HR is a complete Joke, the negative reviews are very accurate and the responses to them are complete LIES. Wage ranges on listings are misleading to potential employees as well- the company does not offer competitive wages or benefits, not even close! The company is destroying the ECE field in so many ways and doesn’t care to listen to current and past employees. I wish I could say that low wages would be the worst part of working with Kids and Company… it isn’t. If you love children, and love the field and want to maintain good mental health- STAY AWAY from this place!!!

Fun but stressful

As a centre director and an assistant director in the past, it was very stressful but enjoyed working with children, staff and families. Parents pay high tuition fees, but staff get paid close to minimum. There was not much support from Head Office, long hours, often had to work on the weekends and evenings, no overtime was paid. Angry parents often were right, but as a centre director couldn’t do much about it.

This is a horrible company to work for. They do not care about their employees at all. Certain employees that are ‘favourites’ get to break the rules while other’s can’t. They allow certain employees to bully colleagues and the children. There is a very negative work culture where people talk behind others backs. This includes the directors who are extremely unprofessional.The only thing that truly matters to them is money and how they can make it.

Poor management

The management shows a lot of favoritism towards certain employees. Daily schedules not followed in many programs. They have benefits but pay close to minimum wage.
