Full-time - Mining Engineering Technologist (Current Employee) – Levack, ON – 25 January 2018
KGHM is a company with really good benefits, better than most if not all mining companies in the area, but what they lack in is being top management heavy with these huge salaries that get raises every year. thus everyone Under top management salaries stay the same with no increase in salary roughly one 2% increase every 5 years.
Pros
Good Benefits
Cons
Long Hours, No overtime Pay, Expected to Work Without OT Pay
Underground Development Miner (Former Employee) – Ontario – 10 January 2018
I liked working here. Good company and decent benefits. Union isn't very good, but as long as you do your job they aren't needed. I would recommend this company for employment.
Polish Government Owned Company with third world values
Project Manager and Chief Operating Officer (Former Employee) – Kamloops, BC – 25 September 2016
Change in government in Poland resulted in mass layoffs that were terribly executed with lack of compassion. $8.0 Billion in approved funding for international projects were cancelled and money invested in Poland.
Pros
Trips to Poland to understand the mining culture
Cons
Different culture and not living up to corporate values
Document Control Lead/Eng Admin Assistant (Former Employee) – Greater Sudbury, ON – 12 September 2016
- Start by reviewing emails, voice mails, see what is priority that needs to be accomplished that day. Start working on that. - Learned how to be a document control manager - Management was knowledgeable and helpful - Co-workers were amazing - Really miss them. - Hardest part was revamping the document control system - Enjoyable - loved the sense of accomplishments and that we were recognized for them,
Core Cutter / Geo-Tech (Former Employee) – Kamloops, BC – 9 September 2016
KGHM is a very friendly and helping company. So many outgoing people that are willing to go above and behind expectation to help others. Also a lot of knowledge to be shared between co-workers in different positions throughout the company.
Administrative Assistant (Former Employee) – Kamloops, BC – 27 May 2016
The team atmosphere is amazing. Everyone knows how to pull together and make amazing things happen. It was great to experience a company that understands the balance between professional and fun.
Manager, Business Improvement (Former Employee) – vancouver, bc – 23 October 2015
KGHM was my workplace for a period of 7 years. My career matured very well there and I look at that company fondly.I gained many skills there that I will be able to apply to my future positions.
The union workers are the best, the Managers are all liars.
Staff Trainer/Supervisor (Former Employee) – Greater Sudbury, ON – 20 February 2015
Managers are all for themselves and has NO respect for the hourly unionized workers. They give you 5 jobs to do at once and then fire you for not doing your regular job. The managers are all school kids that have a lot to learn about life and respect. There is no enjoyable part about working on staff for that company.
Nice place, great people, hard work, and full of challenge
Mechanical Project Engineer (Former Employee) – Santiago (Chile) - Vancouver (Canada) – 23 September 2014
The offices are first class located in the best place in the city surrounded with beautiful areas and easy access. People very professional and helpful with a high commitment to achieve results. Great experience by working with talented and skilled engineers in a collaborative environment.
It is the place to applied experience and make decisions with a great deal of responsibility. Problems or opportunities of improvement come out every time and every where so employees must be alert and react quickly. This situation presents an invaluable opportunity of learning but at the same time of polishing your skills.
Despite the typical stress and pressure for this kind of jobs, there are supportive managers that lead people to make the best for the company and make the experience of working quite pleasant.
