Working at KP
Kerry's place is a great place to work if you love working with individuals with autism. It is a very fulfilling job, helping clients reach their full potential and goals. The only downside is the pay which often leads to people leaving. It's sad because the clients get used to certain staff but due to the high turn over rate, they are always getting comfortable just for staff to leave again. My only suggestion is to pay frontline workers more. Autism Support Assistant in Tweed, ON

Over All Good
If you last your first couple of weeks then you will be fine. You have to be tough to work here. Staff are fine and no problem with management but clients can be tough to care for. Salary is good but not for what you do. It can be relaxed and it can be very stressful when dealing with a client who has an issue. All training is paid, meals provided for a small charge which comes out of cheque. Part time is full time hours if u want it to be and you can and will be stuck on shift when someone doesn’t come in. You can work your way up if you’re willing to work with any clients at any house. Most things depend on seniority. Autism Support Associate in Belleville, ON

room for advancement
I have advanced through Kerry's place with the help of various supervisors. Some are fantastic and others are not so great. Working within supported living is tough, but working with the community team is the best move I have made within this companyAutism Support Assistant in Pickering, ON

Most anxiety inducing job I’ve ever had.
I was afraid to come to work because of how badly I was treated by some of the full time staff. If you’re not liked, you are targeted mercilessly to the point where you find yourself calling in sick to avoid working with certain staff. I tried bringing my concerns to management and they just brushed it off and made it clear that it wasn’t a concern to them. Autism Support Assistant in Pickering, ON

A job full of nonsense in every way
Where do I even begin? Lets start with the location. The Pickering program is located in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by dirt roads that are dangerous to drive on. The roads are unstable and full of pot holes and trying to get to work in bad weather is awful. The property itself is a mess and the house is surrounded by massive weeds that are bigger than actual people. There is no maintenance at all and it's disgusting. Now lets talk about the nonsense with the union. For reasons that were never actually explained, this house is one of the only houses in all of Kerry's Place that isn't part of the union. About 98% of the homes are unionised but this one is not and it shows. This program is complete chaos. Management has very little presence, there is bullying and aggressive behaviour from staff towards others with no consequence and the stress level of working in this environment is off the charts. The pay is awful, the scheduling is a mess, and the lack of workplace safety is a huge concern. I can't speak for any of the other homes but if you get a job here, avoid Pickering! What would you say about your employer?
