Fun and stressful

It’s a fun place to work if you love popcorns. The pay is low with no benefit and there is more work as you are mostly alone. It can get stressful sometimes.

Apply Only as a Last Resort

Kernels Popcorn is poorly managed and cuts corners any chance they get. You will be under trained and overworked for little pay and appreciation. There is no sense of teamwork and pride in your work. You will work mostly by yourself having to cook, clean, take orders, make orders, cash out, and much more during very busy times of the day. You do the work of 3 people and get paid minimum wage with no tips, no bonuses, and not even a thank you for working hard. They no longer accept cash and have a horrible refund policy leaving store employees as prime targets for angry and frustrated customers. Not to mention health code violations that are completely disregarded by management and corporate. Overall stay away and save yourself the pain and agony unless you have no other options.

Ok place to work/ terrible management and training

Ok place to work/ terrible management and training. They either trust you with nothing and then you never learn what to do or they trust you with to much leaving you to opporate to much machinery and run the store alone.

Fun

not a bad job , no room for improvement , good job to get while in school , manager was nice , customers can get grumpy so if you can’t handle confrontation I wouldn’t take it

Enjoyable but stressful at times

My time here was enjoyable overall because of my coworkers and managers. They're all very friendly and I never felt unable to ask for time off/call in sick. Job duties weren't hard, just pop, add flavouring, cook caramel, and serve customers. The most challenging part was dealing with difficult customers. My store only accepted card and part-timers can't issue refunds which made certain situations (like the manager's day off) extremely stressful. Shifts were 8 hours (30 minute unpaid break) which is typical, but I couldn't keep up anymore due to knee problems. The environment is fast-paced, especially during long lineups, but with the right perspective this position can be very rewarding.
