Terrible communication

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
To many managers, out for themselves only, communication is horrible. No supporting staff. Unable to get vacation time. Their are some amazing staff and the residents are sweet

Amazing sense of family

Have had the pleasure of calling John Noble Home my place of employment. I enjoy the residents and the staff I work with. Fast paced with room for advancement.

Don't work here, if you don't have too.

Every department is filled with drama between co-workers. On my first day training, my trainer was bad mouthing multiple co-workers to myself. Don't expected even an ounce of compassion from management... I ended up in bad health and was missing work due to appointments and having bad health days. All of which my manager was aware of. I offered to get doctor's note for every day missed due to this, but was told it wasn't needed. I had a physically noticable medical episode at work, which required me to leave to seek medical treatment... A week later I was fired, I should have looked out for myself and got those doctor's notes anyway. They don't care for you as a person, you're just an easily replaceable number to them. Co-workers in my department would "finish" early and sit in the locker room and chat amongst each other for a half an hour, to an hour waiting until the end of their shift to punch out. There were multiple occasions I was scheduled for days I was not available, and they would still make me work them even after confirming I had myself down as not available on my availability calander. I gave 2 stars because the job paid well.

Pros

Interacting with the residents. Pay.

Cons

Toxic work environment.

Not a good place for black people to work

If you’re black, you have to be extra careful on the job. You can easily be fired with no warning for what a white person can get away with. Terrible place for black people. No fair hearing, management are always quick to rid of you.

Fun and good team environment

Did my placement and now work here, I love it. Good team environment, typically a lot of shifts. Good management. 8 hour days which are nice. All the residents are treated very well, and we’ve all become a family.

Productive work environment

John noble home offers an overall good work environment with supportive staff and management. Liked the flexibility the job offered me related to my needs. It's always refreshing to come back to work after a few days off.

Cons

Friendly staff

Everyone is very kind to one another, feels welcoming! I would say the only down fall is staffing issues, which is common anywhere you go. I would definitely Recommend the JNH.

Great staff, feels like family.

Management has always been fair to an extent of personal life problems that may interfere with my ability to work. They prefer to help come to a better solution than a permanent conclusion of being let go. Clean environment and always has what I need to complete job at hand being an RPN

What's Up With the Home's Management

Not what it used to be. Lots of part time work. Good job til you can find some thing else. Fun helping residents and families. Not sure if I'd trust any of the managers or administrator

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Toxic culture

Underappreciated

Management and Supervisor's do not care about staff, they care about money. Employees made to feel unappreciated, re belittled and not heard. A lot of gossip amongst staff and obvious clicks. No room for advancement if you are not in the liked group. Seniority and scheduling not followed. Hours and advancement given to those of choosing and not based on employee record. They have laid people off than hire newly graduated students. If you return, you have lost all seniority and are given few shifts. My advice for working there, keep your head down and do Not trust management, nor coworkers.

Pros

Wonderful clients

Toxic work environment. Bully culture from management

Awful experience. Management are bullies. Management do not care about staff or resident. Management says “ it’s a business”. Never any positive recognition. Lots of false accusations and negativity. Always made to feel your doing wrong Manipulated and understaffed constantly. Management never steps in to help even during the thick of covid. They will tell you , you are easily replaced Ask you to work 16 hour shifts constantly Mean people running that place with no empathy

Pros

Non

Cons

Everything

Bully culture. Politics are top priority management against employees always

Psw are talked down to. They get zero respect. They r made to feel like a grunt. PSW have no voice overworked and understaffed. Barely manageable. Management are angry and chaotic. They care more about politics. They care nothing for their staff. Staff are not appreciated one bit no matter what the signs they post on walls saying thank u to staff. They treat us poorly Staffing mixes up the schedule constantly and staff are written up when they show up or don’t show up for a mis scheduled shift no confidentiality. Nepotism big time. U ion rules not followed. No protection as management lies it’s a fight between management and staff. There is no unity. A lot of chaos and angry behaviour from management the rules change every day. One can’t keep up. The business side comes first. Hours are often cut abruptly. There is zero positivity. Psw are just put down 24/7.

Pros

None

Cons

Depressing environment, if u forget to punch in or out u will not be notified or paid, u will be scheduled without being notified then marked a no show, humiliating staff often, angry management, workers have no voice, the business comes first and foremost, work short staffed always, physically near impossible to keep up.

Excellent LTC Home

This is the best LTC home in the city. It can be hard work and like all LTC homes, it can be a challenging day at work. There are a couple of negative staff who tend to be louder than the rest and try to bring everyone down. If you don't get sucked into their culture of complaining you will see that there is a lot of good going on here. Managers have an open door and will listen to suggestions if you have ideas that can improve the Home.

Pros

Great Pay, Staff Recognition events, Wellness activities, Good Benefits, OMERS Pension

Cons

LTC is a challenging health care sector to work in
