What would you suggest Island Health management do to prevent others from leaving?

  • Compensation for frontline workers is ridiculously low and hasn't changed for 15 years...why? this is unacceptable. Why do mangers, senior managers and executive receive pay increases AND BONUSES yet their support staff are treated like third class citizens....truly embarrassing

  • Schedule flexibility

  • Ensure Managers are aware of Nursing Culture and have a minimum of a Nursing Degree or Masters! Provide flexible work hours options, in particular for highly experienced nurses with > 20 years of Nursing expertise.

  • Recognize staff and the great job they do
    Show 0 tolerance for bullying

    Managers need to hold staff accountable for their behaviour

  • Respectful work place communication and effective conflict resolution training to be ongoing.
