Job Culture
Work is the same everyday. Advancement only happens if you’re friends with someone in supervision. Workplace culture is a watch your back situations.
Planner/Scheduler (Former Employee) –  Kingston, ON5 September 2019
Management does not no what they’re doing. They are only interested in making people’s lives hard and make themselves look good. Not a good place to work anymore. Company is only interested in making money and not about having happy employees. They don’t mind cutting people and moving more work to others that are left. The only way for advancement is if you become friends with someone in management.

Nice plant but toxic work environment
Operator (Current Employee) –  Maitland, ON10 August 2019
The maitland and kingston site's are great for experience, but not one you will likely want to make a career out of. There is a toxicity that is culturally ingrained in the workers and staff that make it a difficult place to enjoy. The pay is good and there is a great respect for employees time off and personal life, and yet they are in a state of constant hiring do to new hires leaving regularly. HR decisions are made from offsite and often do not feel like they reflect was is going on on site.

There is great exposure to a wide range of technologies, with very interesting processes. This is a great place for new workers to get a chance to be exposed to a wide range of things out there. Get your experience, learn what you can, and leave before the depression kicks in.
Pros
Great experience, balanced work/personal life, good pay
Cons
Hostile work environments, dated equipment, HR/Managerial Decision Making

Material Operator (Former Employee) –  Kingston, ON18 April 2019
Very good pay. The work environment is what you would expect from a factory related job. The company is very safety oriented thus, workplace safety is good.

Challenging opportunity that gets easier and has paid breaks
Manufacturing Technician (Former Employee) –  Kingston, ON21 February 2019
Shift work that is challenging and require lots of heavy lifting. They give you plenty of time for breaks that are all paid. The 12-hour shifts are tough at first but become easier to handle after a few weeks.

Compliance conscious
Chief Operating Engineer (Current Employee) –  INVISTA Maitland Site7 January 2019
INVISTA expects a lot fro salaried people. Most folks work well over the scheduled hours.
INVISTA is strict regarding safety, environmental and health rules.
The plant is older, and much of the plant has been shut down. It is a challenge to operate at times.
Pros
Safety conscious
Cons
Demanding and controlling, long hours for staff

Hot humid work environment, no advancement
Spinning Technician (Former Employee) –  Kingston, ON29 December 2016
Extremely hot work environment. Wearing long sleeves and pants with hard hat. 12 hrs shifts with no breaks over a 12hr shift, if your machine is running poorly. Which was always. Everyone hides injuries because afraid being fired. Nothing ever got fixed unless it could be fixed with duct tape and garbage bag. Washrooms with 12 toilets, now at 2 because they would never fix anything. Mangement full of lazy , but kissers, who could never operate the machines. Mangement would go out of there way to make life difficult for targeted employees. Wage cuts, no raises ever!!!!! Layoffs for factory workers then expected to do 3 jobs instead of one. While mangement was always top heavy. Anything to make a penny.
Pros
Good Co - workers
Cons
Abusive Mangement, MBM principles apply to workers only, not management . Wage cuts, layoffs

Good student job
Material Operator / Quality Control (Former Employee) –  Kingston, ON30 March 2016
While it was a good student job I wouldn't want to spend a whole lot longer than the summer I did work, working there. If I were doing a job that was relevant to my field I would have enjoyed it more.

Good Starting Location
Engineer (Former Employee) –  Victoria, TX7 March 2016
This is a great place to get starting experience but the current structure is not designed to maintain experience nor encourage growth. If you are not an individual that is a go getter, this is not the place for you.

Coworkers are by far the best aspect of this company

One has the ability to learn any area of interest here, but must be prepared to learn it through ones own pursuit while juggling other responsibilities.

The hardest part of working for this company is working through the decisions that management makes. While their ideas are usually good, they do not put in place a vehicle to make those ideas successful.

Company uses MBM, and although the MBM is sound, at this site the structure and principles that make up MBM feel more like words on a page than a culture to strive for.
Pros
Good People
Cons
Poor Training and Bad Site Management

This company knows how to run a business but could improve on the people department.
Contract Employee (Former Employee) –  Kingston, ont4 August 2015
The company expects a good days work from each of its employees. There is performance pay for those that have worked hard and gone above and beyond. This pay system has created some animosity amongst some.

The company is well managed and tries to treat people fair.

I understand that every company is here to make money. They are investing lots of it into the Kingston Site and this is a good thing. However there is to much emphasis on people cutting and wage cutting.

The good thing about the site is that i feel it will be here for some time due to the ever cutting costs. But at what point do you stop at the expense of the worker.
Pros
Very Organized company with clear expectations in mind
Cons
Very business driven which leaves a lot of people feeling stressed often

Great People, Great Work, Decent Culture
Process Engineering Intern (Former Employee) –  Kingston, ON20 October 2013
Had an excellent time working at INVISTA (Canada) Company. The work was always new and interesting, keeping things entertaining and different. The people there were really friendly and created a positive work atmosphere in the technical department. Layoffs that occurred while I was working there, however, caused the atmosphere in operations to be non-ideal.
Pros
Flexible work hours, great benefits, great co-workers
Cons
Layoffs
