Mississauga consulting branch.

TLDR: Not a good place for consultants, but for someone early in their career might be worth it as a stepping stone for better paid positions at other companies.

Awful place to be support staff, accountants and admins should avoid.

Pay is bad all around, most staff work daily overtime (most overtime is unpaid). A few years with Intertek might be worth it to recent grads because the experience you gain puts you in a really good position to negotiate your next job - but while you're with Intertek you will be markedly underpaid. Many junior staff (1 to 4 y) still live with their parents because they aren't paid enough to move out.

Office environment varies greatly department to department. Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, and Nutriton departments are pretty healthy relationship-wise, but they do work long hours, and again, low pay. Accounting is a tightly knit team, very close and friendly within themselves but get a lot of agro from outside - I've seen accountants cry at work due to treatment from other departments. They also frequently work weekends. Sustainability has mixed record and is currently being restructured, I can't speak to it.

Corporate operations and HR are a powder keg of toxicity and fear. Keeping face in front of the parent company is more important to than anything else, and their management will do anything to try to keep anything "negative" under wraps. This doesn't just include reacting aggressively towards staff who report or try to address active issues, but also if anyone flags something as having to potential

Pros
Majority of staff are kind, get a lot of experience quickly, write your own cheque for your next employer, very diverse workplace no sexism or racism and LGBTQ+ friendly, has RRSP matching (not best rate, but decent)
Cons
The few bad apples are very aggressive, crying at work very common, stress leave also common, HR very shady - they are sometimes the aggressors themselves, jobs descriptions purposefully omit things or are vague so they can pay lower salary, have to pay for health benefits
