Job security is extremely low. I saw many teachers get fired during my time here without any explanation. It's not a bad place to gain teaching experience, but definitely do not expect job security no matter what they tell you. Management also plays favourites so unless you are one of those favourites, you are expendable.
The students and teachers are extremely kind and fun to be around
The management is extremely shady and you must always stay on their good side
Please stay away from this company at all costs. They expect you to work so much with so little pay or any kind of compensation. They have zero job security. They treat their employees and their students with zero respect. No possibility of advancement unless the owner likes you because you're pretty or you're willing to take on even more responsibilities for little to zero bumps in your salary. Extremely unprofessional management. I repeat: stay away from this place.
The employees there can be fun to hang around with
Management, management, management.
The interview was joke, they made everything sounds perfect and ILAC is your dream school. When you work there, there is no job security and they basically hire when they need you fire you when they have enough teachers. Shady and unprofessional management. They also squeeze 16 students in a room that is basically my bathroom size. If you want find a summer job, go ahead. If you want to feel respected and valued.
Good students and location.
Everything, this is a scam
ILAC is the kind of school that when a bulb in a projector stops working (and you've only got the one projector in your class), they won't bother to replace the bulb for an entire term. Instead, they'll move your class to another room even if that new room is too small to accommodate the number of students that you have. After a while students stop showing up in your class for the singular reason that they have no place to sit. ILAC is the kind of school that a) has an attendance policy for its students--after a certain number of absences students fail the course--but that will change the attendance record that the instructor has logged so that no student fails the course for missing classes--effectively letting instructors know that they time they wasted taking attendance is just that: wasted time. ILAC is the kind of school that will listen to complaints from the agencies that recruit their students (in other countries) and then tell the instructors that they've received complaints from the agencies about the fact that their tests are too hard--even though the tests are written by ILAC, not the instructors. Moreover, the college won't even ask instructors about the students' failure to attend class and how that failure may contribute to the students doing poorly on an exam or assignment. Instead they'll change the students' marks without telling the teacher. ILAC is the kind of school that gives the students 12 weeks worth of material to study but burns the first week on an orientation class and a second class that gets cancelled for night out for students at a - more...
horrible leadership, managers and students lack all discipline
They removed all the previously negative reviews:( There is no job security and salary is just a little higher than janitors, but you gotta do way more work. Very bad management. Have never seen any ESL schools post hiring ads so often. Teachers don’t get fooled
I love what I do, but the company lack in good management. A typical day for me is answering to emails (inquiries) and talking to students interested in applying to colleges or universities in Canada. The hardest part of my job is the commute ... i live an hour and half away from the office. The most enjoyable part is the connection with the students I see every day.
