Expect to be let go at any possible time

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Job security is extremely low. I saw many teachers get fired during my time here without any explanation. It's not a bad place to gain teaching experience, but definitely do not expect job security no matter what they tell you. Management also plays favourites so unless you are one of those favourites, you are expendable.

Pros

The students and teachers are extremely kind and fun to be around

Cons

The management is extremely shady and you must always stay on their good side

Amazing workplace

Love the culture and the growth opportunities that employees have in the company. It’s a very strong company and has very talented employees.Even though it is a very busy workplace, every single employee will support you to accomplish your tasks and goals.

Pros

Culture, growth, support from everyone

Hands down the worst company you can work for

Please stay away from this company at all costs. They expect you to work so much with so little pay or any kind of compensation. They have zero job security. They treat their employees and their students with zero respect. No possibility of advancement unless the owner likes you because you're pretty or you're willing to take on even more responsibilities for little to zero bumps in your salary. Extremely unprofessional management. I repeat: stay away from this place.

Pros

The employees there can be fun to hang around with

Cons

Management, management, management.

This is the last place you want to work for

The interview was joke, they made everything sounds perfect and ILAC is your dream school. When you work there, there is no job security and they basically hire when they need you fire you when they have enough teachers. Shady and unprofessional management. They also squeeze 16 students in a room that is basically my bathroom size. If you want find a summer job, go ahead. If you want to feel respected and valued.

Pros

Good students and location.

Cons

Everything, this is a scam

Very poor management: no ethics and no quality control or concerns

ILAC is the kind of school that when a bulb in a projector stops working (and you've only got the one projector in your class), they won't bother to replace the bulb for an entire term. Instead, they'll move your class to another room even if that new room is too small to accommodate the number of students that you have. After a while students stop showing up in your class for the singular reason that they have no place to sit. ILAC is the kind of school that a) has an attendance policy for its students--after a certain number of absences students fail the course--but that will change the attendance record that the instructor has logged so that no student fails the course for missing classes--effectively letting instructors know that they time they wasted taking attendance is just that: wasted time. ILAC is the kind of school that will listen to complaints from the agencies that recruit their students (in other countries) and then tell the instructors that they've received complaints from the agencies about the fact that their tests are too hard--even though the tests are written by ILAC, not the instructors. Moreover, the college won't even ask instructors about the students' failure to attend class and how that failure may contribute to the students doing poorly on an exam or assignment. Instead they'll change the students' marks without telling the teacher. ILAC is the kind of school that gives the students 12 weeks worth of material to study but burns the first week on an orientation class and a second class that gets cancelled for night out for students at a -

Do not stay

They give the opportunities for international people. However, in return, they offer very low pay and benefits. The company gives little advancement, only for those who are pretty and close to the owner. Or only if they want to get promoted with little to none compensation. They make it seems like you are replaceable, and once you're requesting a reasonable pay, they will say you're unworthy of what you're asking for. They keep adding more things for you to do, it's always understaff and you always have to work for things that are not stated in your job duty. If you want to gain experience and advance to a better company, then by all mean, start at ILAC. Just don't stay, they will suck all of your energy and soul. The longer you stay, the more you will regret in the end.

Key persons in management should improve connections with those who work for them.

Very unfair, prejudiced evaluations that flagrantly contradict their own teacher’s evaluation results. How can a teacher’s performance be “not engaging” when his students have liked him and rated him over 95% in their standard monthly feedback?

Not a great place to work

Dear teachers who read this, please look out for yourselves when working for this place. They are just out there to make money. They do not care about you, your students, or your experiences. Once you are hired, they make it all look rosy, however, it is anything but. Do not waste your time with these people! Go and work somewhere where you will be appreciated for your experience!

Just so you know they removed all the negative comments

They removed all the previously negative reviews:( There is no job security and salary is just a little higher than janitors, but you gotta do way more work. Very bad management. Have never seen any ESL schools post hiring ads so often. Teachers don’t get fooled

A great place to work

The management is really professional. The staff are friendly and helpful. The environment is amazing. I started teaching in ILAC since about four years ago. I love everything there.

Fun workplace

I love what I do, but the company lack in good management. A typical day for me is answering to emails (inquiries) and talking to students interested in applying to colleges or universities in Canada. The hardest part of my job is the commute ... i live an hour and half away from the office. The most enjoyable part is the connection with the students I see every day.

Pros

Public Relation

Cons

Poor management

A great place to work to get quality teaching experience.

ILAC is a very open and welcoming school for both teachers and students. With its large body of students, it is a well organised and comfortable place to work. Students are eager to learn and the small class sizes are very manageable.
