Average benefits and job advancements, good people though.
Sometimes might get over-swarmed with unexpected workloads, need of overtime.

High turnover.

Once you start working for this company kiss your life goodbye. Long days and nights with no breaks in between or you will fall behind and never recover. DMs are ruthless and expect you to work like a robot. Night coverage as well as working on weekends. So much more to say about how unethical they are to employees and customers. Avoid at all costs the money isn’t worth it and you’ll be looking for a new job in less than a year.

Compensation
Cons

CEO is the perfect example of someone who suffers from the Napoleon complex. He is nothing more than a corporate shill to ensure shareholders are pleased. Has had no people leadership training, No ability to be in touch with the evolving needs of people and culture. Fails to inspire. No forward future mind set.

The company is the industry leader in profitability but nothing more.

Managers/leaders are devoid of soft skills. Almost formally coached to demean the efforts of the field. Nothing you do is ever good enough - if you are not favored.

There is a hierarchy that head office employees are a class above the field. They don’t respect reps to the point that at corporate events they host separate social events so they do not have to associate - (so much for inclusiveness).

Leaders and head office constantly frown upon what the field delivers.

Although none of them could execute to the expectation that they themselves set.

Strong existence of nepotism and favoritism. For career growth, delivering performance on KPIs are a small metric to success.
It’s mostly superficial that’s based on appearance (physically), fashion, use of buzz words and sports metaphors, and showcasing small projects that have no lasting benefits to the business.

Salary is below industry standard.

The bonus structure is awful. You are based on achieving volume targets that are built by head office objectives (not market reality) and changes constantly to control payout factor to maintain budget.

-Company vehicle is inferior to competitors.

-Work life balance is non existent

Pros
Company vehicle and pension matching.
Cons
No growth, pressure to deliver challenging targets, management

Pros
Bonne paie, horaire flexible
Cons
Les tâches sont routinières et au téléphone

Was great years ago but it gets tougher and tougher every year and the industry is in a decline. Job is very routinary and challenging and could be easy but the company just makes it very complicated most of the time with complex offers and programs
Pros
benefits, company vehicle, per diem, cellphone & laptop
Cons
long hours, complicated programs and work/life bals not ideal

Employees are being over worked and under paid. Management makes weird decisions when comes time to promote employees. Most non-management employee are contractors and have no benefits whatsoever.

Overall job is good to gain experience with various softwares used within the industry (SAP mostly, and some excel). After a year or two, you should move on to something better.

Great if you are a part-time student or recent graduate.
Pros
free food, gym, on-site doctor
Cons
low salary, shady management decisions

This can be a good start for a freshman right out of school. However for a long-term career development and advancement this may not be the industry you want to be in. With the external pressures to the industry, the typical day of a salesman gets tougher by the day and the culture is very rigid and top down.
Pros
Good pay, car, medical and dental coverage etc
Cons
Incompetent management, less sensitive HR policies, field being kept completely away from the company

Negotiation, Stakeholder Management, Agency Relationship Management, Cost Effectiveness, Business Acumen, Prioritisation and Efficiency are few of many learnings throughout my career at Imperial Tobacco.
Great school to learn from with much opportunity to grow, although company is shrinking with many budget cuts and increased centralisation.

Engagement is low, culture and legacy is disappearing, budgets being slashed, leadership is weak but salary and benefits are high compared to the market although the gap is rapidly decreasing.

Some departments are outsourced to Adecco. The difference of salary and benefits between the consultants and Imperial Tobacco employees is evident on a day to day basis. AVOID!!

This is a company that doesn't respect the people working there.
All positions with the HR agency are contractual.

Management is biased. Decisions are taken randomly and everything is kept secret. No transparency whatsoever.

Hierarchy is so high that anyone is unapproachable.

Bottom line: forget about professional development, advancement opportunities or increase in salary. This is where you start you career and quit when you get something better.
Pros
nice place, clean, free coffee
Cons
no career advancement possibilities, cold and individualistic environment.

I typically complete between 8 to 10 visits to retail stores within my territory of Central NL. In these accounts I aid in the management of the tobacco category and assist with many aspects of the business such as inventory control and pricing strategies.

Throughout my time with Imperial I have learned to effectively manage my time. My territory requires me to manage almost 200 stores across a vast geography. I have also learned the value of teamwork as we constantly use each others "best practices" to sell, distribute and negotiate in trade.

The most difficult aspect of the job is the geography that must be covered in a rural territory and the different market pockets that exist. Each account requires a different technique and tool box in order to complete the objectives at hand. This is also the most enjoyable part of the job as it keeps every day interesting and teaches one many different techniques and the adaptability required in order to succeed!
Pros
Competitive Salary, Company Vehicle, Gas Card, Per Diem
Cons
Drive Time

Working autonomously in a 60-ish store territory with 8 other team members under the district manager. Management is non-communicative unless giving directives, and is VERY slow with data and information, which creates problems with quarterly targets, goals, etc.

Most enjoyable was the freedom afforded to employees to interpret their territory as they see fit. Most trying was management involvement in individual territory plans (ie. doesn't acknowledge territorial differences).
Pros
half day fridays during the summer, company vehicle and gas provided, regional meetings in good locations, full benefits
Cons
corporate culture, lack of/untimely data and information, poor training, poor team atmosphere, not intellectual, limited vertical mobility.
