Insights into Hyatt

Messy but fun
Server (Former Employee) - Beaver Creek, CO - 10 August 2023
The restaurant was short-staffed, so everyone was overworked and for that reason things were constantly more complicated than they had to be. But other than that, the coworkers were all super nice, and the environment was calm (most of the times).

Good Management
Gallery Host (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 28 June 2023
Booking days off could be tough at times given the small team but nonetheless the general manager is very accommodating with requests when operations permits. Pretty straightforward with duties and responsibilities for each department.

Pros
staff cafeteria, discounts on hotel dining and spa and discounts for hotel rooms around the world

Great workplace and great people!
Server (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 15 May 2023
I was there for 5 years and had the best time! I enjoyed working with my employees and the benefits were amazing! It is a unionized hotel so new hires could be tough to climb the seniority ladder

A conference centre rather than a hotel
Valet Driver / Guest Services (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 28 April 2023
There is no front office management so chaos reigns. It makes for a really unpleasant work environment and a lot of the responsibility for management's poor decision-making is passed on to hourly-paid staff. The hotel is more conference/event venue with a destination bar than it is a hotel.
Pros
They let you go home at the end of the day
Cons
Utter chaos because of failure of front office management/operations

Well paid and good benefits
Front Desk Agent (Former Employee) - Kelowna, BC - 21 April 2023
It was nice working here. The staff and the management are great. The discounts and benefits are a bonus to decent pay. There are opportunities to work either full time or part time.

Every day at work is business as usual, never a time time to idle.
Pastry Cook A1 (Current Employee) - Rose Hall, Montego bay, Jamaica - 5 March 2023
I have never had a dull day at Hyatt, this hotel is about business and our guests, our staff members are equally important. Whenever I am at Hyatt I feel at home. I am always blessed, to go be the glory.
Pros
I am always excited to go to work.
Cons
I had a bad cold, I didn't want to stop from work, but the doctor recommended I took at least three day

Toxic environment
Chef (Former Employee) - Toronto, ON - 2 March 2023
Culinary management team is toxic environment. Most of them are from the restaurants which is small business compare to hotel business thus, nothing is well organized. Lack of communication between staffs and manager s. None of them are cared about the staff at all.

So-and-so
Banquet Server (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 3 February 2023
Great if you have a thick skin and a willingness to work hard for certain amounts of time. Not so much if you aren't. Management is hit or miss, the people are good if you can mesh with them. Seniority is massive.

Could be better
Telephone Operator (Current Employee) - Toronto, ON - 1 February 2023
Working at Hyatt is great but certain locations have their challenges. There is possibility for growth but this often means applying for a position at a new location. If your lucky enough to work for a location that is unionized you will appreciate it more as you will often obtain better pay and benefits.
Pros
Unionized
Cons
No work life balance
