I enjoyed my time working with Husky. The people were friendly and the atmosphere was inviting. Had the pleasure of watching the safety culture change in the industry.

OMG i cang believe i lasted that long

This is a difficult place to work as the goals are constantly changing. There really is only way to survive. Arrive do your job and do not think your input matters. So many meetings and rules and finger pointing when things go wrong. You are just a number creative problem solving is left to further up the structure.

Pros

Good pay

Cons

Way to many bosses buddy favorites

Fast paced, good work environment

Best part of the job was the people that I worked with every day. They were alot of fun to work with but unfortunately the oilfield is a very tough area of work these days.

Cons

Long hours, no job security

Buddy system.

Not a great place to work, not very loyal to there employees or contractor's. Alot of buddy system hiring and firing, ruled by threats and talked about safety but never followed it. Extreme amount of internal back stabbing and favouritism, no clear leadership from the office. Safety was fine unless it cost money, then it was thrown out the window. Promoting people to positions not qualified for

Great experience for internship

Husky has great company culture, all my co-workers were very friendly and fun to be with. As a summer student, you learn hands on experience of the rotary equipment, engine rooms, pipes, valves, instrumentation, rig operations, maintenance and troubleshooting, Drive a company truck several hours a day for maintenance of all the oil wells. Good to see the different types of problems and issues that appear on the field but rarely mentioned during engineering design work. Lots of safety culture, many safety meetings. The plant was a sour facility, so there was extensive first aid, H2S and other safety training.

Wonderful workplace and very supportive staff.

I had an excellent experience of working at Husky Energy. Husky provided me required training before they send me to visit sites. Also team members at Husky were very supportive.

Stable environment

Husky is a stable company with great assets. The management team was lacking in vision and technical ability. This is evident in some of the decisions made and the work culture. I was based in Lloydminster for over a year and never did any outside training or even went to Calgary for any meetings.

Pros

Stable within Lloydminster

Cons

Little room for advancement out of Lloydminster

Good company but poor management

Husky Energy is a good company overall, with good salary packages. The management and work culture is pretty poor and needs a lot to be done to make it employee friendly.

Pros

Good salary

Cons

poor work culture

Dealing with safety issues in the heavy oil industry.

Review the work-day agenda: meetings, inspections, teaching assignments and OH&S regulations. Carry out the assignments as required.I learned that Safe Operating Procedures, regulations and legislation are a very important part of the job.Managers and co-workers were professionals (mostly engineers) who were knowledgeable and dedicated to their work. The hardest part of the job was keeping abreast of the changes in regulations and legislation for the work being done. The most enjoyable part was occasionally being sent out on a training program to some other place, for example, Texas.

Pros

excellent working conditions and rewards.

Cons

jobs may depend on external conditions such as the price of oil.
