Good coworkers, uncaring health network
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Fredericton, NB - 25 September 2023
I absolutely loved all of my coworkers and manager. There were plenty of opportunities to complete further education/achieve certificates etc. so incredibly short on resources and staff all the time. Most people are burning out. Left for a new province.

Travel nurse if you can
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) (Current Employee) - Fredericton, NB - 30 August 2023
Staffing is terrible on every unit, replacing nurses with PSW’s, you’re better off becoming a travel nurse and receiving a decent pay. There’s such lack of support from management, injuries not taken seriously..

Great place to work for
Licensed Practical Nurse (Current Employee) - New Brunswick - 15 July 2023
Great place and friendly staff. Would highly recommend Moncton city. Parking is an issue and you have to pay 8 dollars a day but the service provided makes it worth it

Would not send my worst enemy there
LPN (Casual) (Former Employee) - Saint John, NB - 13 June 2023
The culture was horrible. Staffing was so minimal it was scary. I had to correct many paychecks as scheduling always messed up my paychecks. It took me a couple months to get paid for the 24hour online orientation training. It took me 3 months to get the moving bonus promised upon my arrival. I quit within 4 months of moving across the country for this job. I would not recommend working here to my worst enemy.
Pros
Hosuing was affordable
Cons
Scary staff patient ratios, toxic works environment

Mixed bag
File Clerk (Former Employee) - New Brunswick - 19 May 2023
There are both pros and cons of working with horizon. The workloads are often behind due to staff shortages and management does little to help. The union mindset also tends to prevent progress being made. Seems like a cold war between the two constantly.

It could be a productive workplace but it is not in the laboratory. Jealosy and dereliction of duties prevail in the laboratory.
Clinical Microbiologist (Former Employee) - Fredericton, NB - 12 May 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Nothing. The employees and management are childish and vindictive. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Having an axe blade over your neck each day. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Terrible. Petty fight infighting amongst staff and lack of motivation. FInger-pointing was commonplace. What is a typical day like for you at the company? You showup and keep your head low!

Jobs at Horizon Health Network
Awful, awful management
Patient Care Attendant (Former Employee) - Moncton, NB - 2 May 2023
It's no secret health care in NB is a joke. Horizon does not care about patients, staff, nurses etc. It's all about how to save money so the CEOs can get a huge bonus at the end of the year.
Pros
Nurses truly care
Cons
Long hours, bad management, no appreciation, bad pay and benefits

Not a great place to be
Admitting Clerk (Former Employee) - Saint John, NB - 28 April 2023
Not a great place to work when you have things going on. I was having a really rough time and there was no help or pity. I tried so hard to be a good employee and to work hard but nothing was ever good enough. There was a true hirachy there and they didn't like anyone who was not the same stuck up attitude as them.

Terrible workplace
Patient Care Attendant (Current Employee) - Fredericton, NB - 12 March 2023
Management is lacking. They sit in their locked offices and try to sneak out without being seen. no involvement with staff until its disciplinary. There is a huge lack of education and resources unless you are a nurse. If you are anything but a nurse, do not expect to be treated even half decently. In my role, they pay is not worth the job as most nurses put their duties onto me and others in my role while they sit on their phones or gossip. Very very toxic workplace

Terrible team environment and management
Patient Care Attendant (Current Employee) - Fredericton, NB - 12 March 2023
Very clicky workplace. Nobody wants to help each other but expects you to do their work for them. Management is terrible and doesn't concern themselves with the staff they are suppose to manage. They just sit in their locked office all day. They do not provide adequate resources or education for anyone but nurses. If you are not a nurse, expect to be treated less than poorly.

Promotions made by who you know, not based on merit
Administrative Support (Former Employee) - Moncton, NB - 21 February 2023
Promotions happen because of who you know in top management and not who is actually the right person for a leadership role. People with less experience/training/education are promoted sometimes based solely on who they have in their corner. Equal opportunity hiring is a joke, at least in the mental health and addictions side of the network. People with bachelors degrees, just a few years on the job, no real leadership experience or little clinical mental health expertise are promoted above those with master's degrees and decades of experience. This is the reason there is so much incompetence at the management level. It's sad and frustrating, especially since our health care system is in such a crisis. I would never work for this organization again. Don't waste your time here if you want to develop or advance in your career. You will watch many people who are grossly under-qualified move up the ladder before colleagues who actually have common sense, the training and the experience to lead a team of clinicians. If you expect to have competent executives at the helm of the organization who make smart decisions, keep looking. Directors would rather fill management roles with under skilled puppets who do as they ask instead of promoting resourceful, properly educated and competent leaders who can solve problems and bring positive change to the healthcare system.
Pros
Decent wages compared to other industries in the area
Cons
Corrupt & incompetent management/directors

Awful Support
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 8 February 2023
Great place at first, but when asked for support, emails and phone calls were unanswered. No supportive staff available ever, available except HR, which was not helpful in Nursing.

A steady pay check.
Registered Nurse (Former Employee) - Saint John, NB - 28 January 2023
Go to work and do your job Management often uninformed, nothing to offer, and counterproductive Culture is palliative Best you can do is do your job, find your realistic expectations for what you can accomplish as an individual and not rely on the institution to better you or strive for excellence
Pros
a paycheck
Cons
too many

Typical hierarchical health care organization
Registered Nurse (Current Employee) - saint john - 4 January 2023
Typical hierarchical health care organization. It's huge and you are just a number to them. they don't seem to care about their employees at all. Onboarding was kind of a joke, they give you some modules to do and just throw you in. How much you enjoy your job highly depends who your manager is and how much you stick up for yourself.
Pros
job security
Cons
they don't care about you
