Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) - Montréal, QC - 6 June 2023
Home depot's contact centres are great. Good wage to make the ends meet. Management is very supportive and always there to help. Would have not left if it wasn't for moving cities.

Stressful and toxic
Kitchens (Former Employee) - Ancaster, ON - 6 June 2023
Under staffed but over managed. Managers are not available and there are too many of them. Expert staff are not appreciated even when there is a line up to talk to them. Customers blame the floor staff for lack of available employees. My first day of training they left me in charge of three departments because staff called in sick, while my manager sat in office doing training binders for his promotion. The inventory system is a joke too. People driving from another town for things the computer says they have, but don't. I vocalized issues and got fired soon after. Good riddance.

Good job to transition to a better one
Customer Service (Former Employee) - Cranbrook, BC - 1 June 2023
Fellow staff members great, though best to keep head down and just work. Honestly felt great at first, then a manager got somewhat grumpy and uncaring to people below her. It made it worse trying to resolve it with higher up. Honestly good job if your willing to just be quiet and listen to the rules(that seemed to change every week).
Pros
Kind
Cons
Not honest at the first meeting and greet. Not as open environment as they claim, Also Homer pantry is hardly filled.

Not worth applying.
Shipping and Receiving (Former Employee) - Collingwood, ON - 31 May 2023
Doesn't matter if you have the right experience or proper training they only hire the favorites for the positions. Find better work somewhere else family members and close friends only get hired.
Pros
Nothing
Cons
Management/ hiring management

What is the best part of working at the company? Amazing to work for until you have a mental health problem some senior Hr managers and or direct supervisors are not compassionate or understanding towards your challenges or health problems and feels like they just want to manage you out after 20 plus years of high level performance. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Getting sick and your direct supervisor and senior Hr seem like they don’t care What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Awesome until you get sick with mental health

Understaffed
Associate (Former Employee) - North Bay, ON - 30 May 2023
They don’t schedule enough staff to be on the floor. Non-stop busy. Employees gossip about each other like crazy. Walking all day on concrete with work boots can be annoyingly painful.

Garden Sales Associate & Cashier
Garden Sales Associate & Cashier (Former Employee) - Hamilton, ON - 25 May 2023
I worked on a temporary 3-month contract as a Garden Sales Associate and then as a part time Cashier for a few months. As a garden sales associate, there were times when the work was hard, even though I enjoyed working in the greenhouse. You would have to be comfortable lifting weights. There were more diverse tasks that I had to perform as a garden sales associate compared to the job as a cashier. The major problem I had was with the management and workplace culture. I think the management could have stepped up in their training and in being more approachable. Another problem I faced was unfriendly coworkers. There were a few coworkers who were really rude and borderline disrespectful. I do not know the reason but it could have been me being a new employee or maybe because I am a person of colour. However, there were also some coworkers who were really friendly and helpful. So it depends on the specific store and how the workplace there is.
