Learned lots and great people but some times there is too much competition amongst staff and the senior staff are favored. The salary and benefits are very good if you are a good sales person.

Terrible corporate culture and management style. Management leads by instilling fear and intimidation into its employees. There is no opportunity for dialogue and discussion with management on strategies or ideas, but rather only executing what you are told. Follow the direction as prescribed or be prepared to deal with bullying and harassment. Regardless of how hard you work or how successful you are in your role, development and promotion is based on nepotism. While the environment was designed as open concept to allow for collaboration, the company remains very reactionary and siloed. While the benefits are good (discount, health, dental), compensation remains lacking compared to competitors, and work life balance is non-existent. Management expects employees to stay late daily, and be available at all hours of the night and on weekends.

The Holt Renfrew environment is great. You work with a wide variety of people, and it is very fun. Very good management, and get a lot done. it is fun.

-No communication from managers to staff about important information. -Clueless management that bullies people if they don't meet targets. -Pay and movement within the company is limited even if you have worked there for a long period of time. -benefits and discount are good, but if you make minimum wage the discount is pointless/ unreachable.

clientele based, no clients, hard to make a sale with a walk-in. Management played favourites when it came to discipline. Great working environment, all the associates were friendly and welcoming.

I absolutely loved working at Holt Renfrew, we had great benefits and discounts, and most people I worked with were friendly. Even though it is a competitive sales environment, people are polite to one another, and there is rarely any conflict between co-workers (at least within the accessory department) There are also some rules to what one can and cannot sell, so the sales are fairly distributed among the employees. There is unfortunately not a lot of room to grow when you're a Sales Consultant. Moving between departments, or moving to an independent boutique may be an option; but it is definitely not what I'd consider an advancement. There is also very little work/life balance, as some clients can only be available on certain days, you may need to show up at work for the sale on your day-off.

i did not like the staff nor the clients...it was a very pushy job . they were always forcing you to speak and mingle with clients even when clients were annoyed and did not want to be bothered .
