Assembler (Former Employee) - Barrie, ON - 19 September 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedIt's all about one thing- "Management..." My rating is 1/10 for that. Another issue is Lag in everything, irresponsible people, etc... Literally, nothing here is for employee happiness.

HK Kolmar Canada is a great place to work that I really enjoyed working with.
Buyer (Former Employee) - Barrie, ON - 28 March 2023
I have worked in purchasing department since 2021 and enjoyed every day that I came to work. The flexible hours were a great bonus for me. At HK Kolmar Canada there is always room to grow, and the management is very open to it. HR department at the heart of the company has great friendly team that I found very professional, dedicated, and respectful, with the open door policy which was driven from the director of HR. I had great experience with the higher management. Directors of Operations, Director of Finance and IT and Director of HR, all treated me with respect, trust and encouragements.
Pros
I cannot list them all. The most important one for me is working in a friendly and happy environment
Cons
The challenges in Supply chain are universal that affect all businesses not just HK Kolmar

Dead end job. Management does not care.
Supervisor (Current Employee) - Barrie, ON - 8 August 2022
President refuses communicate to teams. They will not promote within. Do not believe in performance reviews or employee development. Good place to work if you do not want a promotion or personal growth. No accountability.

Could be a great place if HR and Management cared about their employees.
IT Support (Former Employee) - Barrie, ON - 2 August 2022
There are a lot of great people that work there but leadership is lacking and there is no organization. There is no clear definition of positions. HR needs to do a lot more to keep their employees, maybe listen to their needs and actually follow up. Do some team building activities as everyone is so disconnected and worked to the max. When you speak to HR, it doesn't feel like they are on your side. There is high turnover, departments are a mess. No leadership or direction from Management or a lack of Management in some departments. A lot of extra responsibilities above your position title is pushed on you without the pay or recognition. The job itself was enjoyable and challenging but when you realize they don't do enough to keep the good employees and they leave, you know this isn't the place for you.
Pros
Many great employees to work with and in my case, the actual job was challenging and enjoyable.
Cons
You can work extra hard and take on more responsibility but don't expect to get recognition for it.

Bad quality decisions
QC TECHNICIAN (Current Employee) - Barrie, ON - 14 May 2022
Better quality decisions need to be made based on the product quality. Better employees and equipment require investments and training. Communication from management leaves a lot to be desired…
Pros
Nice people to work with
Cons
Lack of support and supplies

It’s okay if you need something bad
Technician (Former Employee) - Barrie, ON - 4 May 2022
I wound not recommend working here unless you are in a pinch and need a job asap. The production scheduling is terrible, training is horrible, and lots of people clearly don’t like working here.
Pros
Paid brakes
Cons
Long hours, bad training, poor management, low wages

Awful company to work for
Assembler (Former Employee) - Barrie, ON - 3 May 2022
You get very limited training but are expected to know how to do everything and keep the pace; a lot of people get hurt from repetition. Some people's lives revolve around CSR and if you're not part of their click and they don't like you they will try to get you fired and/or get you to quit. Management doesn't care about their employees and treat them badly; the only interest of the company is profit. The wages are way below average and there are no incentives. If you're looking for some sort of experience in a fast paced environment and you can tolerate being underpaid and badly treated it may be a company to start with but get out as soon as possible afterwards. CSR is not a company to grow with.

Highly stressful environment
General Labourer (Former Employee) - Barrie, ON - 2 May 2022
Some of the employees are really nice to work with but as whole it is an extremely negative environment to work in people are constantly trying to expose peoples mistakes in order to make themselves look better, some supervisors are power hungry and have absolutely zero interest in helping other employees , met some really nice genuine people here but over I would not recommend.

Fast paced work but good for beginners
General Labourer (Current Employee) - Barrie, ON - 4 January 2022
This job doesn't require any qualification so it is a perfect fit for people who are looking for a job first time in their life. The job is fast paced but once you adapt to the work then it is easy. We are provided with short breaks.
