Great work environment, owner is absolutely amazing and treats his employees like gold. A lot of hidden perks in the job, random gifts and draws. Yearly gifts as well. Pay is fair, not amazing. As a salesman I disliked having no metrics to track my personal growth and success, it also means that there is absolutely no commission component to your pay so it makes it extremely challenging to increase your wage.
Middle and upper management are kind of clueless when it comes to directing a team and resolving team conflict. They don't understand that a problem that occurs prior to replacing an employee, and continues after a new hire is in, and persists after that new hire has left had absolutely nothing to do with the new hire as an example. I would advise addressing these persistent issues to ensure company growth where growth has become stagnant or reverted.
Very short sighted management approach, however as a bonus its very hands off. Apart from learning their systems (order entry) they expect you to learn on your own without real guidance. They will answer questions that you have, but without a direction it may be challenging to ask the right questions to reach your next plateau of understanding.
If you are a self sufficient salesmen, can avoid office politics like the plague, can self learn or already know the steel position, you will do well here. Otherwise expect short term employment.
