Minimum pay, workload constantly increased, no appreciation
Parts Coordinator (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 4 October 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedHerbers used to be a great company to work for. Management changed and things went completely downhill. President and upper management do not appreciate the employees and believe employees should be thankful they have a job. It is a toxic workplace. Long term employees haven’t had a pay increase in 8+ years.
Pros
Decent benefits
Cons
Expectations of employees is unreasonable.

Makes you wanna drink
Detailer (Former Employee) - West Edmonton, AB - 21 August 2022
Honestly the management at this company is pathetic I had to keep calling them to get hired and finally I did and after a few months realized that the stress this job puts on you and not caring about the extra hours you put in to yell at you this company will drive you to drink

High expectations, low compensation
Parts Coordinator (Former Employee) - 16929 107 Ave, NW, Edmonton AB - 5 July 2022
For Reference: I was the parts-coordinator at the west location, and mirror matcher at the south. Honestly, this is probably one of the worst companies I've ever worked for in trades. The position pays significantly under industry standards, boasts you being "Salary" but doesn't give you any of the perks of being salaried, and convinces you to not file lost time claims because they'll pay you, (since you were injured due to a safety hazard) and then docks your pay anyways and makes excuses. They require you to be highly skilled at the job, but then tell you it has "no requirements" so they don't pay to industry standard. As a Parts Coordinator, you are in charge of all of the invoicing, inventory management, tracking, month end, credits (which you have targets to make every month) but they consider this entry level, and not a management position. It's overall the worst body shop I've ever worked at and will warn everyone about them.
Pros
Cheap Parts
Cons
No Overtime, Stressful, Terrible Management

Lots of beers after work.
Prepper/Painter (Former Employee) - 6804 75 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5A9 - 7 March 2022
High expectations quick turnover little chance to move up in the company. Poor quality repairs were often passed onto the customers. Cars are repaired in an assembly line sort of system little care was given for hidden damage. Body techs often dumped more work onto the preppers. Paint and primer usage is recorded and evaluated constantly for cost saving purposes.
Pros
Free lunch sometimes, training & updating.

Fast paced business casual enviroment
Customer Service Specialist / Receptionist (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 24 June 2020
I have very much enjoyed working for Herbers. it offered a relaxed enviroment with fast paced work through the busy winter months. Your days fly by most of the time. My co-workers were all great to work with and the management style is wonderful. She is hard working and professional, but still friendly and relatable.

Good place. Poor management
Autobody painter (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 7 May 2020
Great place to work. Great culture. 3 managers in 3 years. That was a problem. It was difficult to maintain consistency with the many management changes. Painter had no say about prosucts and application plocedures
Pros
Good pay. Good culture
Cons
Very fast pace. No input

The body shop people were very young in age and socially with exception to 1or2 people
Detailer / shop cleaner (Former Employee) - Grande Prairie, AB - 4 May 2020
Nobody gave praise for a job well done. Asked to do jobs out of sequence. For instance cleaning a truck only to find out it had to go to kal tire. Then having to wash it again when it came back. I sometimes washed the same truck 2 to 3 times.

Average
Autobody apprentice (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 10 September 2019
Looking for somewhere that pays flat rate. They do not pay us properly here and it’s not paying the bills. Decent management but poor work quality for the employees for the most part

Official response from Herbers Autobody
28 February 2020We appreciate the 4 start rating and your feedback. As a current employee, we definitely encourage you to speak with the proper channels about your concerns. We never want any of our stakeholders to feel as if they have poor work quality. We believe that in order to make a business successful, open communication is key. Thank you again for your review.
Hard on the employee
Painter (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 4 July 2019
Employee rotation is high due to lack of respect and no flat rate pay structure for the refinish side. Sick days are not respected. Management is too concerned about their own bonuses and not the employee.
Cons
No human relations.

Everyone seems to be very friendly and welcoming. I was able to learn how a bodyshop operates. I would recommend this place to anybody looking to get into this trade.

great Job
Detailer (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 6 May 2018
Lots to learn in short period of time. Get ready for long hours and cold or hot weather conditions, and Hard manual labor. If your new to the auto body trade I would defiantly recommend this place under the pretense that you're gonna work hard and are prepared for anything
Pros
1 Hour Lunches
Cons
8 hours, Strict, younger people are not taken seriously

Nice people to work with but
Detailer (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 2 April 2018
No job/life balance. Takes forever to advance if you ever even do. Management was biased about who got promoted and hired new people above wages of people there a long time with zero experience.
Pros
Good benefits
Cons
Long hours would not let you take breaks and low pay
