Great place to work if you like driving
Loader Operator (Former Employee) - brantford - 13 December 2022
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedGreat place, many plants you can work at even if you start in brantford, you could go to cambridge, waterdown, even kitchener. If you want to work and enjoy driving, and the odd customer or pump operator, you can make ALOT of money... bring rain coat or warm jacket, because you work in the weather..
Pros
Great place to work
Cons
none

Safe and friendly environment.
Equipment operator / ground worker (Current Employee) - Regina, SK - 17 January 2023
One should never go into their new job thinking it’s going to be a piece of cake. Although I didn’t think it was going to be hard because I had 6-7 years of similar and valuable experience at other companies. This companies policy for safety first had the friendly approach that could get a rookie gleaming with confidence. I think the tradition is very good and now we just are trying to find ways to up our production.

You're just a number
Lead Hand (Former Employee) - Villeneuve, AB - 2 January 2023
Very poor culture at this company. At the end of the day you're just a number. Pay was good but not worth it for the stress you are given. They want high production numbers with poorly maintained equipment.

typical job for the industry
Loader Operator (Current Employee) - Ontario - 3 December 2022
if you want to come to work just to make a pay cheque, then this is the place for you. very poor management. they put people in place who have no idea about the industry. quality and safety are lacking. all about the money.
Pros
decent pay a little above average
Cons
poor safety, long hours, substandard management

Old school industrial operations
Operations Engineer (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 22 November 2022
Lehigh is an old school company in an industry that gets no attention. The operations are run on a shoestring budget with lots of micromanagement from senior management. They run 24/7 operations, so expect long hours, being on call, having minimal support, and no OT if you are an engineer.

Great place to work, not much time for life outside of work.
RMX Delivery Driver (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 23 October 2022
Could be better work to life balance. Hours you will most likely working in a day are 13 to 15 hours No schedule/ Expect to work everyday except Sunday. When you ask for days off they are really bad at getting back to you in time. Even if you give them 2 weeks and even if you plan vacation time. You work long hours with every little brakes when busy, which is all summer.... Great people to work with, not so much the plant staff tho, really moody people....
Pros
Union
Cons
Long hours

Poorly managed sometimes toxic
Operator plant/Loader (Former Employee) - Saskatoon, SK - 19 September 2022
Poorly managed. No salaried workers unionized and bosses always make comments about lazy union workers. Manager treats anyone who doesn't have university degree like they are a lesser human. Less then 1% wage increase per year. Old patched together equipment. Clear favoritism. Chronically understaffed so no opportunity for holidays. No production or safety incentives. Loud dusty environment. Constant fear of being fired for breaking safety rules that are constantly being changed. Revolving door no experienced efficient employees stay.

Good money if you are a robot and just work and do your job and don't talk and get involved with the work culture and politics.
Driver/plant operator/loader operator/labourer etc. (Current Employee) - Greater Vancouver, BC - 22 June 2022
Good pay...... but you sacrifice any personal life for it. No fixed schedule as to when your shift will be finished..... it's whenever the job is done. Most workers just phone in sick because this is becoming the choice they are limited to. Bad management and culture. Most is dictated from the U.S. subsidiary company and long term local management that has been hanging around just to settle some scores and holding grudges. A lot more disconnection between workers and upper management. Lack of positive communication and they won't listen anyways to accomplish maintenance and company issues. Meetings are held just to enforce dictatorship rules and nobody speaks up much anymore other than to make the odd comical sarcastic remark. Worst environment it's been here in a long time ever since they have a new approach with extra managers and upper management shuffle.
Pros
Good pay if you like long hours. Benefits.
Cons
Hard to get scheduled time off, If you want off at 4....5 pm, Forget about it. Management doesn't listen to any of your suggestions, They patch things to make the company run, They don't properly invest and do it right the first time, Dusty and noisy work environment, They don't follow up and retrain problem workers, We have to deal with it.

Mobility is easy - If you're competent.
Supervisor (Former Employee) - Lower Mainland, BC - 21 March 2022
Communication, whether it be between coworkers, other departments, other regions, is a disaster to put it lightly. Max. 3% raise a year, max 5%-10% increase if you get a promotion. If you choose to work here make sure you negotiate high initially. Most of the workforce is unionized and obviously plenty of animosity between management and hourly employees. Can make for many unpleasant interactions. Generally individuals on all sides are alright but like lemurs in a group. Make no mistake, profits & shareholders are #1, not safety or mental health or whatever memo they're sending globally that week. If you can deal with everything else, benefits are typically very generous despite pay, can make up for it in a few scenarios.

You’re just a number
Concrete Truck Driver (Current Employee) - Langley, BC - 3 June 2021
Horrible place to work any type of advancement is only good if you’re a close friend of the management, filled with nepotism, they’ll advance someone with 15 years less seniority if they think that employee would make a good puppet..... stay away from the micro managed dumpster fire! Mandated to work 6 days a week even going over the. 14 hrs driving max
Pros
Pay
Cons
To much to list

InLand Pipe NW Calgary treated me well
Skilled Labourer (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 9 April 2021
I started as a temp worker, did lots of labour work, mainly cleaning up. Showed up to work everyday. Eventually after a month they saw potential in me and asked if I can pass a drug test. Unfortunately I didn't pass the lung test and had to wait 5 more months to get tested again. Finally, I passed and started getting paid decent money. Coworkers were great. I wasn’t getting micro managed. Foreman says one thing and you do it right the first time. Eventually I had to go back to school to pursue Heavy Duty Tech.
Pros
Free lunches sometimes, good pay, lots of hours
Cons
Life and work balance

Home every day
Ready-Mix Cement Truck Driver (Current Employee) - Ottawa, ON - 24 May 2020
Local work. Home every day. Union, fair pay, but could be better for the work. Hours vary. Hardest part of the job can be the customers. Trucks not always repaired right away.

Tres inégale
Maintenance (Former Employee) - Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, QC - 10 January 2020
La compagnie n'applique pas les mêmes règles dans tout ses établissements, on ne se sent pas faire partie d'une grande entreprise... on suis sent laissé à soit même.

Collaborative environment and possibilites for growth
Quality Control Technician (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 27 December 2019
The work environment is collaborative and supportive, encouraging for learning. A typical day work load depends on how many jobs are happening so some days can be stressful and other more relaxed.

Driver perspective
Concrete Mixer Driver (Former Employee) - Edmonton - 25 December 2019
Really enjoyed this job until 2019 until so called safety was forced on us. Started with cameras in trucks for review of rules by management. It’s too bad that management doesn’t seem to understand the more they try to impose their rules (instead of listening) on drivers the less quality of job is returned. From company perspective they really don’t care, it’s all about the numbers.
Very good trucks and it is possible to just ignore management and do your job. Annoying but tolerable.
