Quite horrible and humiliating

Support Service Worker (Former Employee) - Greater Sudbury, ON - 11 May 2023

I lasted under two weeks. Staff are not too kind to new people with years of experience. They "want you to succeed". but think nothing of throwing you to the wolves with little training, and expect you to "hit the ground running". Bad attitudes and behavior are never reprimanded, but take your break at the wrong time and expect to be hauled into the office. There is a reason this place continues to hire for the same roles. It's not a healthy, nor happy work environment, and has very high turnover. This is the place where sociopaths thrive and the meek cry. You've been warned.

Health Sciences North , I think is a workplace to work. You should know how to work in a team and individually. I was on my student placements when I was there, but it was fun.

Fast paced and demanding

A very fast paced, demanding but educational, diverse and gratifying environment . Nursing staff was amazing and wonderful bonds and respect was earned and given. We felt important and we were treated as such. We gained respect of our senior staff and the valuable asset we made to them. ALL of the patient needs were met and exceeded, there was no rush and proper care was given. Injuries/hazards,spread of illness,skin breakdowns, were reduced with close hands on monitoring of our patients in our care with more hands on deck. (Hospitals should employee PSW's to alleviate pressure off nursing staff, help in ADL's of patients, help decrease "return" trips to hospitals and to obtain patient goals of returning and preparedness once home. I believe with more PSW's on the specific units assisting with transitional care, ALC patients, post-operative patients,there is a decrease in preventable "issues" that commonly arise)

Low wages. Low stress

In building maintenance the wages are extremely low for trades people. Work itself was not very challenging. Good if you don't want to think too much. Payroll is always incorrect and takes weeks to correct issues.
