Good starter role

Indeed featured review

Good beginners role. Room for movement up. Can be a bit clique-y. Benefits are great. Pay is average. Vacation is average. Great place to start, gain some experience and then move on

Great job

The job was great stimulating challenging I loved it but I was also hated by most that worked there because I was an aggressive achiever with a very great work ethic

Fast and friendly

Flexable and good hours . Specs could come out at a certain time to make it faster but it works well . You are timed when doing missed flyers someone missed on a route from the time you get it until the time it gets to the house. Different neighbourhoods and areas so time and bundle the streets wisely . I helped out a lot at this job and ran house to house and honestly if you like driving alone and listening to music at night this is the perfect job

Pros

You drive alone

Cons

Hard on car

I was very young, so it was good to keep me busy.

I did the paper route when I was much much younger. With that, I dont exactly remember everything about the job. Its a good way to keep people busy and moving.

Sales and Marketing

A difficult job with long hours, poor management. Very difficult to get in touch with HR when looking to try and get T4. High stress with working 6 days a week, making it difficult to balance home and work life.

Laid back environment

You manage your own time, while managing to deliver the papers on time. It is early mornings. Management is effective. It took about an hour and a half to complete my route.

Ok part time job but not enough pay

The paper delivery was a good part time job. The pay was decent but not the best. The paper guy would always be late for the papers, but not bad like I said for a part time job

Pros

Not a challenging job for starters

Cons

Late sometimes

Very Productive Workplace

A typical day at work was a small bit stressful considering that you're knocking on random people's doors. It was overall a great learning experience.

Pros

Flexible work hours

Cons

Don't get paid unless you get orders.

Excellent Work

The work experience was extraordinary. I worked from 4am to 6am when I was only 11 years old. Time management was very good. The hardest part was staying awake because it was so early in the morning and the most enjoyable part was running of course.

Pros

low hours, very easy

Cons

low pay and working very early in the morning can be tiresome

Fun

Delivering 200 papers, much more difficult and time consuming than it seems. Great management always responsive and helpful. Hardest part is not having a set schedule every day and waiting for the papers to arrive on time and being able to deliver the papers before the deadline.

Pros

I control when I start and leave

Cons

Very low pay

Fun job

Under the Hamilton Spectator, I would deliver the newspapers door to door at night time. We would meet up at a certain location, get our papers and be on our way.

Pros

driving experience

Cons

up early, early morning

workplace environment public

This job was easy but had some problems. Some of my coworkers were rude and changing their minds about the flyers getting delivered to them.

Pros

meeting neighbour

Cons

had to work on cold days example raining, snow

A decent job.

MY responsibilities were of a simple variety. Not too much thought put into it. Dropping off news papers at doors every morning. I had been feeling more under accomplished working at a job that required absolutely no skills. I didn't like the pay or the hours but continued as a job for a source of income for myself.

Student Job

It was my first job, a student job and I only worked on the Friday night shift. It wasn't bad for what it was, but it was dirty and i worked hard. If the papers ran late, I had to stay late and it often made me late for my other job that I had on weekends.

Pros

Never a moment to sit still and get bored, time went by fast

Cons

Lots of problems with the press which made the papers late.

long time contractor

The Hamilton Spectator has been a great company for the years that I have been contracted to them.

Pros

Cons

long hours, night time

Very young

This as my first job, everybody had this job. This is something every one does once in their lives. I am too young to remember it though.

Pros

Cons

winter days
