Good to gain experience
Good hospital to start out at and gain experience to build nursing skills because it is a smaller hospital. You have to do a lot more than what bigger hospitals may expect of you.

Too many politics
As a red seal journeyman I was greatly underpaid. Management doesn't deal professionally with issues that arise with any of the management team therefore causing bad relations between employees and management.

A great place to work
Friendly employees (sometimes can be short on psws though) great teamwork, amazing residents. Working here you'll feel as though the residents are your family . ❤ Overall a great place to work.

Medical floor nursing in community hospital
Very busy floor, often caring for patients waiting for alternate level of care (nursing home, rehab, etc), Often see silo nursing- unable to find someone to help out or unwilling to help you out. However, some staff are amazing, particularly the housekeeping staff. Needs a re-shifting in culture in order to be a great place to work. Clients get good care by nurses and doctors. Doctors are generally approachable, willing to teach, and great at what they do. Floor is often over capacity and management does not allow extra staff to come in to help out. Feel like you are putting your nursing license on the line sometimes. Management not helpful, supportive, flexible, or fair. I had more bad days then good here. Some nursing staff are lazy and unwilling to help, but others are exceptional at what they do and go above and beyond. High turn over, especially with RN's. I learned a lot about medical conditions, medications, nursing in general, and work culture. Some staff truly love working here and have had a much more positive experience than I. Often order lunch in on a weekend shift and have lunch together- which was nice for the morale. Some clients had interesting diagnoses which made the nursing care more interesting.

Small town culture
The change in Senior Management significantly impacted the culture. No room for career advancement & salaries are far below median. People work well together, but there is a lot of frustration on the floors. SMT needs to re-focus.
