Great company with growth opportunities if you're friends with the leadership and center manager. the morale was terrible. A lot of favoritism and manipulation happens in management and staff.

You do not want to work there if your a professional
Center Medical Specialist (Nurse) (Former Employee) –  Newport News, VA16 May 2019
Unprofessional work environment. Rules change day to day depending on who you are and who you ask. They seem to care more about the donors than the employees they hired. Highschool type of atmosphere in terms of work environment.
Pros
good benefits
Cons
Poor management, unprofessional work environment

Not Worth The Stress
Plasma Processor (Former Employee) –  Dallas, TX13 May 2019
There is drama there everyday. The management team will make bad decisions which effect the whole team and then they bail on the team. They only help in the areas they are good at while the rest of the building drowns. You will never have a life outside of this place because people do not show up for their shifts. The regional manager come in and doesn't speak, but he will ask about the cabinets and the floors. The pay is higher than most plasma center but it is not worth the headache.
Pros
Family atmosphere
Cons
Drama, no work place balance, short lunch

Overworked
Donor Center Screener (Current Employee) –  McAllen, TX13 May 2019
Most of the time the Grifols plasma center was short-staffed and workers were required to work overtime. Bathroom breaks are a commodity and rare. The donors can be the hardest, yet best, part of the job.

To quote a cartoon animal used as a makeshift household appliance, "it's a living"
Phlebotomist (Current Employee) –  Kennewick, WA12 May 2019
You can get a phlebotomy certification there. For the most part the donors are great, you get to help people with the plasma and with the money from donations. It's fast paced and if you aren't a management favorite you will have co-workers who are giving you more tasks to do before you finish the one you are on while they saunter around and gossip. The pay isn't great and the raises don't match inflation and the changing of minimum wage or even what is promised in the on boarding meeting. As stated by another reviewer there is sometimes food in the break room so that's a silver lining to the cloud of tenured mediocrity that is this particular center.
Pros
Help with phlebotomy certification
Cons
Everything else

Very high turnover rate with only young employees
Medical Assistant/ Lead Phlebotomist (Former Employee) –  Kennewick, WA10 May 2019
It was great working for a company that saves lives and you can get a ton of phlebotomy and medical assisting experience but there is too much drama and they play favorites so it is not a very fun place to work. Always very busy, no down time, and you are expected to always work extremely fast and hard. If you want to leave on time you feel bad because they are always short staffed so you are leaving all the craziness with 3 employees. Sometimes they provide snacks for employees though!
Pros
Great to be working at a company that saves lives
Cons
Managers have favorites, certain rules only apply to certain employees, workplace drama is off the charts, and employees are not valued because of the high turnover rate

No formal education = no upward mpvement
Operations Supervisor (Former Employee) –  Orem, UT7 May 2019
Worked for the company 7+ years and wages were unlivable. People hired were just to fulfill business production not for investment or development growth. There was no job equivalent internally that could move you through the ranks unless you are well liked but if you are, then it is beneficial. For invested financially tight personnel willing to put time and effort to the company there is no real endgame plan. Come in with more than the company gives out and it will be worth your while as they are continually looking to advance the company in many fields ; engineering, pharmaceutical, hospital.
They did have good benefits and the product of the company makes a wonderful difference in people’s lives and that is something can keep some coming back to work. But as a long term career? Not for entry with intent to climb the ladder, only for well groomed well educated candidates. Grifols as an entity does a lot for people to better their lives, just not as much for their employees.
Feedback is poorly delivered if at all given much like any job, it is what you make it.
Pros
benefits, tuition reimbursement, entry level medical experience.
Cons
Holidays, management, development, growth, emotional intelligence, leadership.

Unfair practices. Treatment of donors is horrific especially sinc allot of the team members are trained on the job
Phlebotomist/Operations (Former Employee) –  Victoria, TX6 May 2019
Unfair practices. Treatment of donors is horrific especially since alot of the team members are trained on the job instead of requiring previous venipuncture knowledge and education. Trust me having a phlebotomist ask you what is hemolysis after they have been trained is scary, especially if they are always asking you to fix their mess ups. Arterial blood is bright red...Sooooo nope you didn't hit an artery. Stop your crying. Excellent phlebotomist don't panic instead they inform and educate the donor.

Professor & Screener (Current Employee) –  Kingsport, TN28 April 2019
I’ve worked at Grifols for 6 months now and the management is the laziest . I’ve ever had if you work hard and show up everyday and on time it seems like you get treated like dirt but if your one of the employees that Tatar’s teas to to the donors and use bad language then you get moved up faster

Do your homework before joining this company
Manager (Former Employee) –  Emeryville, CA24 April 2019
Do not rely on the recruiter to provide an accurate picture. External recruiters want to get paid and will say what they need to and it's not always accurate. They have 3 main divisions: Bioscience; Diagnostics and Hospital. The culture or lack of is the same across the board. Spain is very controlling of the regions (eg US). They have an excellent portfolio and do supply chain well. They struggle with commercialization of smaller divisions in US due to Spain's control. There is a lot of infighting and an us versus them mentality due to poor acquisition integration and change management. This applies to Spain and the region as well. They don't always work respectfully with one another and there is no trust. Control issues due to a lack of role clarity. Ethical behavior a problem with some leaders. A lot of turnover especially in their largest division. There are some great people but there is also a lot of frustration due to Spain's control and morale is low in many areas. They do have a new leader over all divisions and hopefully, there will be positive change coming soon.

Phlebotomist (Current Employee) –  Fridley, MN22 April 2019
The pay is above average for this kind of job, but there isn't much room for growth. Management pretends to care about what employees think about work environment, but are not receptive of employee concerns/complaints. Constantly changing procedures/policies throughout the center, and poor communication across the board. Extremely high turnover with staff due to low employee satisfaction.
Pros
decent pay, flexible time off
Cons
Poor management, feeling undervalued as an employee, no room for growth

A good stepping stone.
Phlebotomist Technician (Former Employee) –  Pueblo, CO21 April 2019
This I saw as a temporary step towards a better paying job, Training was good. Meals were provided for staff on a regular basis. Health insurance was actually great and probably the best benefit. They were flexible with appointments I made but taking off for vacation was practically impossible and you had better NEVER EVER CALL OFF SICK.

Management was poor - your work was never productive enough and my 1 year anniversary wasn't even recognized. There were definitely favorites. Some people got away with being lazy while others almost never stopped moving. The atmosphere was most like being baby sat and scolded rather that appreciation and respect.

Operating procedures were not went over thoroughly. Training was decent as far as phlebotomy. You were told to look up SOP but never given the time to do that unless you want to do it on your own time - no thanks.

The donors were mostly nice. You meet a lot of people. Keep in mind donors are getting paid to donate so this is a different clientele from say a voluntary service such as a hospital or blood bank. A lot of people do this for gas money short on bills and they are desperate or for recreational reasons if you know what I mean. There are also younger people/students.So, when people are turned away for whatever reason they become irate because this is about the all mighty dollar.

When I was there you almost never got 2 days off - it was always sunday and some other random day so burnout is common.

Last thing is they start you at near minimum wage and you never earn much more than that. You can get more by fixing
more... the machines or working in the lab or transferring into the quality department but good luck with that unless your a lifer.  less
Pros
Medical insurance. Meeting a lot of interesting and mostly nice donors.
Cons
Poor management that are task masters more than anything else.

Good company, Bad management Overall
Plasma Processor (Former Employee) –  Garland, TX17 April 2019
Great company but the Garland center is run by poor management. You can only move up if you do as they say and kiss their behind for the most part but its a sin to stand up for yourself and if you do, they will consider you rude and a bad employee.
They tell line staff to grow a back bone and take criticism but Management including most of QA cant take criticism and lack a back bone honestly and if you do stand up for yourself, they dislike you already.
People in that center are fake and line staff is not allowed to do certain things but management is because they think they are better.
A manager once said that line staff are nobodys.
They like to micromanage everything even if you are competent at your job and management uses profanity toward employees.
If you are good friends with management its easy to move up and when they open certain lead/OS/QA positions they already know who they are choosing so dont apply unless they tell you because you will not get it.
They also like to lie to employees, promise them things and never go through with it.
Christmas parties suck unless you have kids, they will enjoy it so bring them.
Management will also work with any life issues you have only if they like you.
They also let certain employees slide but like I said, if they dont like you, they wont.
Most of QA stays on their phone 24/7 and always chit chatting in the office while areas are struggling.
QA and some Supervisors also like to watch people like a hawk and wait till they mess up (even if super minor) and they go tell management ASAP. They dont know how to follow
  more... the chain of command.
Last thing...THEY SUCK AT COMMUNICATION. THEY CANNOT COMMUNICATE AT ALL. IF YOU TELL A MANAGER SOMETHING, THE OTHER MANAGERS DONT KNOW ABOUT IT BECAUSE THEY SUCK AT COMMUNICATION.
My recommendation, go to TPR because they have a great teamwork.
Also, the only center in Texas that is open Sun-Sat 7-8pm.
They do appointments but still let people walk in last minute. What a joke of a center it is.
They dont appreciate their employees, only certain ones and that center has bad vibes...
Trust me when I say, that center will turn into Octapharma Garland.

Phlebotomist (Former Employee) –  Toledo, OH 4360717 April 2019
This was by far, one of the most unprofessional places I have ever worked. The management and staff both need serious improvement, as to why there is such a high employee turn over rate.
