Lies, bullying at a dead-end job
Receptionist (Former Employee) – Markham, ON – 3 April 2019
You are lied to at the interview about your role and company culture, but once you start working there you realized that not only are you not doing the work you were hired for, you have to fill other roles that were abandoned by coworkers that have quit or abruptly let go and they never hired them back.
Getting called by the owners after hours on the weekends is quite normal. Getting called to stay behind for a 2+ hours meeting right at 5 PM is normal and frequent. Not getting paid overtime when being asked to stay overtime is normal. Getting bullied at work is normal. Being told not to get ambitious because there is no advancement at work despite being told the opposite is normal. Being constantly watched remotely by cameras installed is normal. Feeling dispensable is normal because you are. Nepotism is normal.
There are just too many terrible things about working there, the semi-decent salary isn't worth the trauma and hours and hours of unmentioned overtime.
Even if you leave there is no one from there you can even use as an acceptable reference.
They use Apple phones, and seem caring when you call in sick
Rude micro-managing bosses, bullying by coworkers, lies at interview and at work, incompetent management, nepotism, feeling dispensable, no overtime pay
