What is the best part of working at the company? Don't bother. There are better companies. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Probably the complete lack of safety commitment What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It had ups and downs. Mostly down. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Preparing for serious incidents/injuries/deaths

Possibly the $#!ttiest company I've worked for
Red Seal Journeyman Electrician (Current Employee) - Joffre, AB - 18 November 2023
Was originally working for AECOM. Things were good. Then the division was bought by Graham Construction. The job has been in a steady downhill spiral ever since. Benefits once paid have been taken away. Extra perks gone. Most large companies look at their field level workers as numbers, but with Graham you're not even numbers. Just a warm body. There is zero room for advancement unless you're friends with the higher-ups. Working ridiculous hours with little-to-no notice is expected, and made out as mandatory. If you refuse you'll be laid off so fast your head will spin. ZERO attempt by management to raise morale. No little perks, no employee recognition, no company functions (not even a Christmas lunch ffs!)
Pros
Highest wage in the area while being home every night, Excellent work crew, Very little fighting between trades
Cons
No work/life balance, workers are not valued, toxic culture

Awful
Project Manager (Former Employee) - Calgary, AB - 2 November 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? Very unprofessional, a company who treats their trades like dirt. You should hear the office staff. Truly a shame. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Unprofessional truly awful. Worst company ever. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Boys/Girls Club. Bow down or bow out. What is a typical day like for you at the company? A joke, listening to some of the men in the office talk so poorly and unprofessional to trades/suppliers all day long is ridiculous.

Pros
Some really experienced journeymen

Cheap

Great company
Excavator Operator - Lead Hand (Former Employee) - Powell River, BC - 12 July 2023
Graham is a great employer. I thoroughly enjoyed my position in civil earthworks running excavator . If you show up everyday fit for duty, buy into the safety culture and be a team player, the sky is your limit!
Pros
Benefits, hours, loa
Cons
Nothing worth noting in comparison with similar large scale employers.

Don’t care about safety or their workers!!! Stay Away!!!!
Forklift Operator (Former Employee) - Regina, SK - 4 July 2023
They only do the bare minimum for safety, have to be watched and told by the client they are working for. When they kill and or seriously injure too many people they just close up that subsidiary company and start another with a new name. Supervisors and foremen are very impersonal. Push their workers to the limit and last minute of every day. No appreciation for the workers shown. Superintendents and foremen are busy running heavy equipment instead of the site, which is their job, because they cannot retain any experienced workers due to the poor work environment. Insult workers constantly to their face, especially the labourers. Could go on and on but it is too depressing.
Pros
It’s a job if you don’t get hurt
Cons
Unsafe, no appreciation, impersonal, don’t care about workers

A stressful place to work
Safety Advisor (Former Employee) - Fort McMurray, AB - 20 June 2023
My boss was a very poor manager. It was a very difficult place to work. Every time there was an incident he would go on about how we were going to lose a contract that we had for 11 years.
Pros
Getting paid

Working for a micro manager

Great Potential to grow
Project Coordinator (Former Employee) - Vancouver, BC - 16 May 2023
Huge organization, one may get pigeonholed. Great potential to grow in the midst of great projects. Managers should work well to identify strengths and weaknesses

Average job.
Technician (Current Employee) - Fort McMurray, AB - 15 March 2023
Average job, handcuffed by client for manpower so you end up understaffed. Some trades have no representative with management at all. Better money elsewhere.

Challenging but collaborative workplace
Administrator (Current Employee) - Canada - 16 October 2022
Graham is a busy place but most people are very helpful and want to see you succeed. The benefits are great and it’s an employee owned company which gives people more reason to work hard. It’s a big company so your manager will be quite dependent on your success
