Reviews about Pay & benefits for Legal Assistant at Government Of Alberta
Great experience in the right ministry
Legal Assistant (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 6 January 2023
Leadership is great in some ministries, not so great in others. It's a good idea to ask probing questions during your job interview to get a feel for their leadership style. If they are often hiring, its a good indication of a toxic work environment. Service Alberta was a wonderful place to work.
Pros
Good pay and benefits.
Cons
Incompetent leadership depending on your team.

Terrible management, low morale, underpaid
Legal Assistant (Current Employee) - Edmonton - 26 October 2022
- Advancement is extremely difficult not only because hard work goes unnoticed, but the Talent Acquisition Team is so slow in posting ads, interviewing, and sending out offer letters. You'll get tired of waiting and move on to a better job. - Raises are pretty much non-existent. Don't let the pension fool you. What's the point of working your whole life paycheck to paycheck and your only reason that it's ok to struggle your whole life is you'll get a pension, if you even live that long ? - Always short staffed, overworked
Pros
Benefits, pension, job security
Cons
Low pay, stressful, poor management, low morale, little room for advancement

Terrible over worked underpaid
Legal Assistant (Current Employee) - Calgary, AB - 7 October 2022
Just don’t bother, not appreciated, underpaid micromanaged. Terrible 1.5 hour lunch can’t leave a min early. No parking. Low pay. No flex days, no work from home
