Wildland Firefighter (Former Employee) - Fort McMurray, AB - 28 August 2023

Good place work and start a career as a firefighter. Starting pay is low but often you get overtime when you are working a fire or on export. On a busy fire season you could be making a lot of money.

Good entry work

Lack of training and consistency throughout the province. Miscommunication and not very good pay. Upper management did not seem to care about their employees, but there was a good mix of field and office work and like minded people. Way too much changing of the name of departments when new governments come in.

What is the best part of working at the company?Steady pay at a set location. What is the most stressful part about working at the company?Knowing if you're injured... you're out. What is the work environment and culture like at the company?Very hostile. Very aggressive. Always have to watch your back. More so from staff than inmates. What is a typical day like for you at the company?Avoiding altercations if possible, deal with ignorant people all day. Listen to the new drama
