51 questions about working at GoodLife Fitness Clubs
I spent a year as a motivator working MY hours and picking up 30 -100 hrs a month from employees that called in sick... in hopes that when someone quit, I would get those hours. I came to work on time, in uniform, for every shift, and then for my co-worker's shifts too. But instead, when someone quit, my boss hired the 16-year daughter of a long time "Senior Motivator" and I lost my hours due to nepotism. When I took it to HR it was a big cover up, the refused to see it as a conflict of interest for the company, they said the manager could do whatever he wanted, that the job wasn't based on performance or availability. This 16-year-old could only work for the summer, needed vacation time, called in sick, sat in a side office with her feet on the desk when she was supposed to be at the front desk...and HR actually said she beat out other applications including mine, a 44 year old single mom, who beat cancer and was passionate about fitness. 4 months later my boss had to hire 2 more people to replace her and me because she went back to school and I had to go find another job because I lost my hours. This job is a joke if you are older than 17, passionate about fitness, or if you care about yourself.

Great place to work if you have solid employees at whatever location you work at. Upper management (above club level) has a culture of disrespect and disregard for the club managers and employees which can translate into burn out or stressed out leaders.
