Days are very long and stressful. Learned a lot of skills with shipping and receiving but the environment and the people there were hard to cooperate with. I just have to say that this type of work is not suitable for young adults.

For new immigrants they can start here working as s stepping stone.

Hardest part of the job was for staff assigned at the fridge.

It is seasonal so most of the time we worked under time.

In the Customer Contact center you will find a mix of people who's longterm goals at Goodfood are not well defined. There are those who are simply there for a job and for some it's a career, but there is no doubt that when you work here they want you to be career oriented. Expect sudden changes and then some changes mentioned that take months to materialize. Overall, great benefits & salary but they really need to redefine their culture or start practicing it.

It is a wonderful place to work. The problem on my part is the cold temperatures. Some supervisors do not like to listen to problems presented to them thus limiting the flow of information that may help in the progress of the company.

This company has a ruthless culture and absolute zero regards for work-life balance. One of their core value is "Eat, Live, Breathe Goodfood" and expectations are employees should be willing to sacrifice their personal/ family life to serve this company at any time of the day or week. You will never see abuse of the Slack app (meant to drive cross-functional efficiencies) more than here anywhere else, intruding your personal life significantly. Be prepared to receive and respond to slack messages even around late night, weekends or when on vacation. It is frowned upon by management if one doesn't respond back instantly.

Employees are treated as a commodity and working here feels like modern-day slavery. Is someone were to do an independent survey, this company probably will have the highest attrition rate in Canada. Pay is below average and almost every full-time employee works a minimum of 1.5x times for his/her pay. All the weekly QC rejected and expired/soon to be expiring food is offered as a perk to the employees.

Please do your proper due diligence before joining this firm. Join only if you really don't have any other option and be prepared to leave in a few months of your joining as the expectations from you will be unsustainable.

I worked for Goodfood for nearly 2 years, and really enjoyed my time for the first year or so. In the beginning, it was a small company that cared about its employees from the top down, and encouraged growth. As time went on and the company grew, the values that once were so important did not evolve accordingly, but were still promoted as being the same. This quickly created an environment of distrust and lack of empathy amongst the management team, which obviously trickled down to the team.

The abuse of the Slack messaging app is also a huge problem at Goodfood. The Customer Service centre is open 16h a day, 7 days a week, and there was an unspoken rule that you needed to be up to date on everything going on as a member of the management team. This meant having it on your phone and being on it outside of work hours.

It's in the nature of startups to grow fast and hard, but the message from the CEO was always clear - adapt or die. There was a fixation on "culture fit", which essentially boiled down to finding people who would fall in line and be another cog in the machine. We were encouraged to share concerns, but they were never escalated or validated. This applied even to the HR team, who would often react to complaints against coworkers or managers with, "you should talk to them about this". It did not make its staff feel heard or protected.

Expectations for the customer service agents became increasingly unrealistic, based on the growth of the company, the hiring rate and the tools provided. This of course made team members fear for their jobs, and put additional

Job Culture
In my time at Goodfood, I watched the company go from a hardworking startup to a workplace that valued 'culture' over actual, concrete advances in hiring, technology, and systems. 'Team work makes the dream work' turned into a sick mantra in which the Member Happiness team (customer service) would work insane hours (overtime topping 8+ hours a day for some agents, who would work to 'bank' the time for eventual days off) dealing with volumes of communications due to a host of issues, from delivery problems stemming from their very production facility, to marketing initiatives that toed the line of breaking anti-spam legislation, to having to manually suspend/cancel hundreds of accounts on a daily basis. The intense lack of support from upper management resulted in thinly veiled threats to not allow tickets to backlog ever again, and also contributed to my decision to leave the company.

Alongside this, there is a constant 'always on' mentality that is unspoken, but is a clear tenant of who is 'working hard'. The company utilizes Slack (a messaging app) and it was an unspoken rule, even from the very early days, that this was to be installed on your phone, and you should be always up to date as to the goings on in not only your department, but others as well. It became a compulsion: if I wasn't working, I would check Slack at least once an hour in the evening, and when I woke up in the morning it would be the very first thing I looked at on my phone. It allows the lines between home and work to blur significantly, despite the company insisting that they value work-life balance.

Management should be more experienced and should be less in numbers though Nice place to work . Sometimes cold is too much.
Associates should get more benefits .

Quality Assurance Coordinators are looked as Quality checkers as the main reason is that they wears the same colour hairnets.

Ridiculously demanding and stressful! The hours they give do not allow for work life balance and the pay doesn’t compensate for that either. I believe people work here out of desperation because the team team leaders and team specialists are not paid much more than the customer service representatives.
