It's a start up starting up again

Indeed featured review

In any new company there's bumps in the road, Goodfood has had a few, mainly due to the immense growth due to the pandemic then the change in customer behavior after the fact. There's opportunity to work with great people and make an impact, but it's challenging and not for people who need to have a well defined roadmap.Goodfood is in a rebuild.

Pros

The people and the ambition

Cons

As challenging as any start up can be.

Trash

I've been working here for three years and in that time, they've managed to mess things up hard. The jobs offered there are extremely boring and lacking, you literally need to shut off your brain in order to even withstand working. The average employee leaves within a couple of months despite the pay being higher than other entry level jobs so that gives you an idea of how bad it is. There are a disproportionate amount of part-timers to full-timers, making it clear that this is a okay job for students..or if you're desperate enough.HR might as well not exist with how useless they are and the "benefits" are a lie.TLDR: Avoid this place if you want to keep your sanity in check.

Generally meaningless work, but decent pay and very inclusive and supportive atmosphere

Not very difficult work and far fewer tough customers than you'd have to deal with in similar fields. The work is not very meaningful, but the staff are very supportive and always helpful and kind. Working from home is great (they'll provide a PC and everything you need), but it can take you quite a while to get a better scheduled shift if you are looking to work Monday to Friday. Can take a few months to get a preferred shift of around 9-5 (will usually start you 11:30-8, Wednesday to Sunday)Benefits are decent, only two weeks paid vacation though.Sales targets to hit, but they're very easy to hit. Possibility to move up in salary if you are consistently exceeding sales targets. Always looking to promote within though to numerous different departments.Overall, thoroughly fine for the job. Pay's decent, staff are supportive, work from home, generally not super busy or hectic for most of the year. Only two weeks paid vacation though, can take quite a while to get a better shift, and overall generally devoid of any real meaning or purpose.

Love the company

Great environment to work at. Colleagues are lovely and supportive. But you should expect to work around the clock. Very fast paced environment. You’d love it if you like challenges.

work load high

hours are flexible, as long as you can handle you duties, you can take time off for personal causes fairly easily. But work load is significantly higher than past job experiences. company was moving in a very fast pace, new programs and procedures happen all the time, but in a poorly planned and inefficient way. Too many meetings also

Pros

flexible hour

Cons

poorly planned, life-work balance bad

Cold working conditions, lack of working hours

The pay, the overall atmosphere of the place is nice, the working conditions wander around the freezing point so you have to wear heavy clothing all year round. Some departments do not give full 20 hours a week of job.

Absolutely the worst company, leadership, culture I have ever seen in my 20+ year corporate career

-Extremely autocratic environment don't think just do-Sr. Leadership is unqualified and inexperienced they refuse to admit they don't know what they don't know.-Employees especially in private label planning/procurement are resigning weekly due to leadership/poisoned environment-Blame culture, if something goes off the tracks normal organizations rally together to find a solution, Goodfood is a place where leadership looks to place blame instead of working on a solution-there is no collaboration between culinary and planning/supply chain just a very strained relationship-the entire company relies on using Google sheets in lieu of optimizing the actual operations system. -Most organizations use email as a system of communicating which allows one to prioritize and file messages. At Goodfood (although they use Gmail rarely) they actually communicate via Slack which is essentially an app which acts as a massive group chatroom where you are spammed with nonsensical communication 24 hours a day. If you are out of a job, starving and about to lose your home........ Still don't take a job at Goodfood

Decent company that doesn't care about it's employees

Worked for this company for a few months, after switching locations I was told my pay would decrease, without explaination. Few months at the new location my hours were changed even after asking what my preference was. HR department is extremely hard to contact, might as well not exist. The actual job at hand isn't difficult and if you have the right coworkers it makes the day go by fast

Pros

Free groceries some times (could be spoiled)

Cons

Horrible management and HR

Worst place that I have ever worked

Stay away from this place! I have never worked at a more disrespectful workplace. It was so hard on my body that I got a knee injury that still hurts one year later. NOT WORTH IT!

Pros

Some coworkers were nice, food give away

Cons

Cold, far from downtown, mean coworkers, disrespectful management, unrealistic productivity goals.

Flexible hours

Great Job if you like to be independent. Irregular shifts and company changes rates frequently. You can choose your own days you want to work. Overall a good place work.

Worst employer in a 30-year career

- Site managers are incompetent at best, hard to believe they have experience in leading a team- Very high turnover... which is a consequence of the first point- Ethics is problematic at times. I don't believe it is generalized, but don't be the whistleblower, chances are you will be fired- HR team composed of junior inexperienced staff - Some production units are asking employees to subscribe even if they don't order anything

If you like being nothing more than a number then this is the job for you

I worked for this company for over a year and must say that this was the worst job I have ever had. The job involves you getting screamed at by customers for 8 hours a day because the company does not bother to make sure that the meals are properly packed or even that the "nut-free meals actually have no nuts in the meals" To make it worse if you do not get yelled at by at least 7 angry customers an hour your managers yell at you and threaten to fire you. If you inform your management team about any mental or emotional trouble you face due to this the response you receive is " you need to tuff it out". The rating system that they use to evaluate you is flawed as any good ratings are "because the company is great" And any bad ratings are because " you could not make the fact that the food never came for the customer a happy situation for the member" The website is always failing members and the company does not address issues or work on making any fixes to them and expect you to magically make members happy even though all you can do is tell the member to wait for the IT team to fix the issues at hand, and hope that the member does not begin to call you every name in the book because the company won't fix anything wrong with the system. If you are reading this I recommend you apply for any other job as this will be nothing but a very emotionally draining experience for you and you deserve better

Pros

None come to mind

Cons

Basically the whole job

Fast pace Collaborative environment. Poor systems and processes

Food industry= fast paceWorkin 3 shift 7 days week= focus on collaborative environment.Developing company= processes and systems not mature and developed yet.Lots of waste at all level due to innefective systems poor training and lack of competance. Human retention is an issue.Working environment is spartiate and no frill. Middle management very dedicated,Senior management stategic direction and ability to execute well is questionable.

Disorganized leaders, chaos and mismanagement galore

Goodfood was a pandemic baby business. When I joined the company, business was booming through the lockdowns. A lot of money was dumped into ventures and efforts that were never clearly thought out. Leadership at Goodfood is there for one purpose: to disrupt the market. They were never trying to build a great food company, with a great culture. I would not recommend the culture at Goodfood to anyone, all the best talent turn over and leave either voluntarily or are laid off because the company cannot afford to keep or retain talent.

It’s a good place to work at to start your career as a part time worker if you are a student or even if you are a full time worker.

Working at goodfood is a hard job for a newcomer. But eventually it seems fine as time goes as it will give you many chances to improvise. Also, if no time is wasted then the supervisors support you too even if the portioning (work output) is not very good for the day.

Pros

Good salary

Cons

Very cool temperatures

Not a sane environment

You get disappointed at management decisions that are geared towards just their assumptions. You become the problem when you give the right advice about operations.

Horrific Culture and Leadership Team

Accepting a job at GoodFood was probably the worst mistake of my career. They have restructured/terminated people at least 5 times since Nov 2021. The teams are so demotivated it’s hard to believe and that is a direct result of the founders. You have no ability to influence/make decisions. The expectation is that you follow direction without question or opinion. Please, please, please DO NOT WORK AT GOODFOOD. Only accept a job with this organization if you are unemployed/need money. If you do, continue looking while you work at GoodFood you will immediately regret it and want to run for the exitYour friendly neighborhood GoodFoody.
