Great part time job
Bus Driver (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 29 August 2023
Indeed featured review
The most useful review selected by IndeedI enjoyed working at Golden arrow part-time. The job is great but the pay is low. A typical day would involve waking up early, going to bus yard, do a pre-trip inspection, go pick up riders, drop them off, return to yard, go home. After a few hours you go back to yard to pick up riders and take them home. Best part of the job was driving the bus!

They take all problems seriously, big or small. Everyone is important. But not more important than others.
School Bus Driver (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 18 September 2023
I learned to be independent at work. Solve the problems I could handle and reached out for help when it was needed. They advertise be your own boss and that is exactly what I learned to do. They say what they mean and mean what they say.
Pros
Good management, good work is recognized by the vise president, fare pay, extra hours, not required to work extra hours, respected, no prejudice, no racism, the list is endless.
Cons
Can't think of any.

No real raise in salary in thirteen years. $15/ hr in 2009 for extra work same as 2021
School Bus Driver (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 21 April 2023
The management does not allow the drivers to succeed and there is no room for promotion. The drivers in the whole industry are under paid and over utilized. No recognition for good driving, but lots of paperwork and disciplining of students and making sure everyone is safe, and everyone is sitting, is a more difficult job than people think. You have you back to students and still must maintain behaviors, and watch the road.

One needs to be able to take the noise level children can produce but maintain some sense of humor with flexibility.
Bus Driver (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 25 May 2020
I had worked with Golden Arrow a number of years before this. I left then because I could not make a living. This job is good for a couple where one has a better job or is semi-retired.
Pros
Working with children
Cons

Detailer (Former Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 21 February 2020
Buses came at various times of night for detail. Work was fun and okay but did not last long because supervisor quit. Buses came in dirty, dirty and went out clean, clean.

Terrible
Driver (Former Employee) - Spruce Grove, AB - 27 January 2020
Will hire anyone off the street! No formal background checks except for driving record. Terrible pay, lowest amongst bus companies. No confidentiality, manager don’t care.

ok place to work
Driver/Operator (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 10 November 2019
Part-time hours only available as piece work. Each piece work is set at a certain dollar amount. Often takes longer to complete the piece work without renumeration for extra time. Only suitable for someone wanting part-time and something to do.

Inadequet pay for work required
Bus Driver (Current Employee) - Edmonton, AB - 13 April 2016
This company does not factor into it's pay schedule the fact that you have to drive in TWICE a day for a job that's based on a 4 hour day. Your average day is at least 4 1/2 hrs. and you do not get pay for waiting for bus repairs(anything from signal bulbs to wheel re-torques) or washing time and there is no health plan or stat holiday pay.
