It was a ok Job
Labourer (Former Employee) –  St. Thomas, ON10 January 2018
It was not to bad of a place to work. Some days was busy had to load a furnace belt. Some days you wear in charge of two presses and do checks and pack in wire baskets.

I also took care of furnaces just part time when the furnace controller was on holidays or sick. This job contains of walking around do furnace checks temp, belt speed doing checks on parts when coming out of the furnaces. Parts go in made out of powder metal and come out harden steel.

Some times I was asked to drive fork truck not vary often.

Double checked parts for no cracks or burns.
Measured the length, width, and weight of parts.
Organized and packed parts into boxes to get ready to ship.
Ensured the work area was clean and tidy once we switched areas.

Not a bad place to work. Freedom to go about your job and not be micromanaged.
Millwright / Press Mechanic (Current Employee) –  London, ON14 February 2017
Equipment is routinely abused and people are not held accountable which can be frustrating. Good atmosphere to learn if you take the initiative. Majority of management team's sole experience is in this facility and would benefit from exposure to other companies' operations.
Pros
exposure to a wide range of equipment
Cons
expectations of management / dirty working environment

Good place to work
Electrician (Former Employee) –  St. Thomas, ON15 January 2017
GKN is a fast paced continuously growing company, that with the addition of a lot of automation a day is never boring. The maintenance team is in charge of service and repair of equipment ranging from a 1200 ton hydraulic press to a motoman spyder robot.
Overall maintenance dealt with three large hydraulic press, two 1300 ton sizing press, two 750 and six 500 ton compacting press along with six sinter furnaces and auxiliary systems, With only one electrician on two of the shifts and two on days, in a shift an electrician could deal with anything from troubleshooting control logics to a tower fan drive. The toughest part of the job was keeping up to date with the new technology, having such a variety. The most enjoyable part of the job was finding the phantom fault and a solution to eliminate it.
Pros
The variety of work.
Cons
long hours under pressure
