Cordial , peaceful but work to rule environment
Teacher (Current Employee) - Ashanti Offinso - 28 March 2022
I wake up early as 4am and prepare for work, I commute from my residence to work place which is about 6 miles intervals, I learn human behavior as I work as head in institution, Management of school is of high important, if I fail as go manager ,the work becomes stand still. The work culture is standard, I work with time ,there should be a teacher at at post during contact hours. The hardest part of the work, is 1 managing those who are unwilling to work as per the standard. 2 Managing with out funds and shortage of material like chalk, lesson notes, etc. The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing student getting better grades at their final examination.

Poor teaching and learning environment.
General Teacher (Former Employee) - Classroom teacher - 19 March 2022
Salary should meet the current economic situation. In order not to put unnecessary pressure on teachers. When teachers are economically stable, they can also deliver to expectations.

Its fun and working there but the conditions of work and emoluments are poor
Teacher (Current Employee) - Acherensua - 21 October 2018
On a typical day at work, that is in school, we report at 6:30 am and register. Ensures and supervises the cleaning of the classrooms and compound. That is in about 30 minutes and regroup pupils in the classroom for an early morning lessons which mostly focuses on literacy and numeracy. There is later an assembly for prayers and devotions at about 8:00am. Then the actual class sessions begin.
Various teachers take their turns lessons after lessons of which I the Mathematics teachers too is actively involved. I teach here using a chalk and a blackboard. The working conditions are not very favorable in the Education service of Ghana but we a lot of innovations we are able to up to expectations.
School closes mostly at 2:35pm with a lot of stress onwards having to mark exercises and prepare notes for the next day.
I have learnt to endure and to accept pupils for who they are as a teacher.
Management is not responsive when the need arises.
The hardest part of this job has been to work and try to inculcate knowledge to the young ones even under such nonconforming environment with limited teaching and learning aids/materials.
The enjoyable part of the work is having to have chats with colleagues and seeing these young pupils make it when they finally pass out on their external examinations. The kids are also very fun to be around.
Pros
The respect and dignity we accord in the society as a whole
Cons
Poor salaries and working environment

Am very hardworking and jovial
Teaching (Current Employee) - Navrongo - 1 September 2018
Day starts with an assembly and marking of register by form masters. Lessons are taken according subject basis. Roughly 8 hours per week(subject). Teaching is an interesting job as one gets to learn about the culture and experiences of both staff and the students. We use only our national language at school

Great institution, fun and privileged to work with
Mathematics Teacher (Current Employee) - Tema - 10 March 2017
It is fun and quite an experience working with Ghana Education Service. This is a place where more is required of you. You are to do all that you can to see your students succeed.
I have learned through the hard way to do all within my means to see the work done wether all that you require to do the work is available or not, even though this put you at a difficult position but it also toughens you for difficult times.
Even though I would have wished that my salary is increased, what I enjoy the most is to see my students excelling and advancing in their careers and their field of endeavors.
Pros
Job security
Cons
Low salary

Productive and friendly job environment
Teacher (Current Employee) - Mpeasem Cape Coast - 2 March 2017
A day at work calls for seriousness as you impart the pupils from dressing to teaching. Management offer good supervision. Job security is assured. Its becomes difficult to impart knowledge when teaching learning resources are not available. The joy of the job is to see pupils pass their exams very well.
Pros
Vacation
Cons
Inadequate resources

Productive Work Place
Classroom Teacher (Current Employee) - Tema-Ghana West Africa - 4 November 2012
A typical work day consists of two shifts. Morning and afternoon shifts. The morning shift start from 7:20 am to 12:30noon. A timetable has been drawn to indicate the period in which you have to go a particular class to teach. There are nine periods per day and a period is about 30minutes whereas double period has an one hour. We maintain the same timetable for the afternoon shift. But classes begin at 12:45pm and ends at 5:20pm. A bell is always rang to remind a teach to change a lesson. Strong team work is exhibited and good management system in place. Inadequate of lack of teaching and learning materials is a great challenage hence does not make teaching enjoyable.
