If you were in charge, what would you do to make GFL Environmental a better place to work?
I would raise everyone's pay to industry standard as gfl pays the worst in calgary area. I would punish people who harass bully and are racist to other employees as gfl allows it. I would make sure equipment is safe and road worthy rather then the unsafe trucks that would FAIL DOT standards.
Get your experience if you are a new driver and get out asap.They will push you for speed and tonnage, but if there's an accident they do not know you. Do not ignore the warnings. Do not work here. This is why they are willing to pay agencies $24/hr for a driver, but only $18 to full time experienced drivers. They cannot hold on to competent workers.
If you dedicate your life and become there slave your aloud to bully other employees. If you get bullied and go to the office they will make your life a living h@$$ and fire you. Ive seen racism ALOT of harrassment and bullying by managers and staff. I reccomend just going straight to labour board WHEN they start harrashing you
The same thing you would wear at any interview. Dress shirt, dress pants, clean shoes and a tie. You are representing yourself at every interview you ever have in life. Don't look like an idiot.
What advice would you give the CEO of GFL Environmental about how to improve the company?
Fire all staff in duncan and chemainus and victoria and start fresh you need it.
Does GFL promote a safe work environment?
When the temperature is hot and muggy out what does this company do to ensure the safety of the swampers who are pitching trash?
They make it mandatory to wear safety glasses that blur your vision but could care less that you are working 20 feet off the ground on top of trucks without a harness or even anywhere to hook up to.
How long does it take to get hired from start to finish at GFL Environmental? What are the steps along the way?
They want you to take 10 hours of their courses on your own time.
They tell you that you will be paid for those hours but they never do.
