Gateway opens new casino in Sarnia and creates 60 new jobs!

Gateway Casinos announced on January 30 it will be returning slots to Hiawatha Horse Park, at 1730 London Line in Sarnia. Gateway Casinos Sarnia officially opened with 150 new slots and the creation of more than 60 new jobs in the community. The 53,100 square foot facility features a 22,033 square foot gaming floor with a fully licensed signature “Express Bar.” Gateway Casinos Sarnia will operate from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. seven days a week.

At a ribbon cutting ceremony this afternoon Gateway Senior Vice President of Casino Operations Jamie Papp was joined by Sarnia-Lambton MPP Bob Bailey, Sarnia Mayor Mike Bradley, and Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation Vice-President of Land Based Gaming, Bruce MacKenzie, to officially launch the new casino.


“Gateway is excited to bring another new gaming and entertainment facility to the greater Sarnia-Lambton region. Our guests can expect the same quality and friendly service they have grown accustomed to at our Starlight Casino in Point Edward, just on a more intimate scale,” said Gateway’s Jamie Papp.

Blueprint 2019

Gateway’s annual conference, Blueprint was held at our Casino Rama resort on December 3rd and 4th in Orillia, Ontario. The theme of this years’ conference is to look at how Gateway can increase its organizational agility and create agile teams in order to build resilience in the face of increasing complexity in the workplace.

With over 200 attendees from across Canada and another 100 attendees at our regional event on January 8th, in Burnaby, BC, Blueprint is the opportunity for teams to plan, learn as well as celebrate the previous year’s accomplishments.

Gateway Casinos Becomes Top Corporate Fundraiser in Canada

For the second year in a row Gateway Casinos properties across Canada have participated in the Children’s Wish Heroes Challenge. The Heroes Challenge is a fun team-building fundraising event where teams raise funds to grant the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening illness.

Through the amazing efforts of staff, management, and customers the four Gateway teams have surpassed last year’s total by more than $17,000. Collectively, we have raised $78,282.73! Making Gateway Casinos the top corporate fund raiser in Canada.



Congratulations to all four Gateway teams. It is through your efforts that we have not only surpassed our fundraising goal but have taken top spot across the country. Gateway Casinos Partners with BCLC to Bring the First Pulse Arena to British Columbia

Gateway Casinos, in conjunction with BCLC and Interblock, is excited to unveil its brand-new Pulse Arena, an innovative, immersive, multi-sensory gaming space that is the first of its kind in B.C.

Set to redefine the casino experience in B.C., Pulse Arena takes up prime position on the gaming floor at Grand Villa Casino in Burnaby. Pulse Arena features 35 interconnected gaming stations all supported by lights, sound and a massive 30-foot digital wall. This high-energy gaming experience brings together electronic table games, live dealer games and interactive play.

The Gateway GROW 101 & 201 Management Certificate Programs

The Gateway GROW 101 & 201 Management Certificate Programs on the Gateway Learning Centre (GLC) are two programs consisting of 5 courses each – and great incentives.

We have taken great care in preparing this program for our employees, to make sure it supports their needs both as a manager/ supervisor, and as a lifelong learner who wants a refresher course. The GROW 201 program has 5 courses that address fields of communication and coaching, as well as building on the skills that were covered in GROW 101.

Gateway Gala 2019

The Gateway Awards 2019 was celebrated at Coast Hotel and Convention Centre in Langley, BC to acknowledge all nominees. It was a wonderful evening that included a red carpet reception and a 5-course menu.

Each Gateway operating area has an employee recognition program, where the Management Leadership Team identify an ‘Employee of the Month’ from a pool of peer nominated employees to recognize the individual employee whose consistent performance most represented the company values of Respect, Integrity, Team-work and Exceptional Customer Service for that month. At the end of the year, each operating area identified their Employee of the Year; the individual who most significantly represented the values of the company for the year. Gateway Casinos & Entertainment Limited is one of the largest casino and entertainment employers in Canada. With over 9,000 employees they understand their people are the key to their continued success.

Cascades Casino North Bay to Feature New, Exciting Dining and Entertainment Options

Gateway Casinos announced it will invest approximately $31 million to build the new Cascades Casino North Bay at 300 Pinewood Park Drive and create up to 300 new jobs in the City of North Bay.

The proposed new casino, spanning over 39,000 square feet, will feature 300 slots and 8 live table games. It will also be home to Gateway’s signature restaurant brands, MATCH Eatery & Public House and The Buffet. The new casino is expected to open in mid-July 2020.
