Mostly good people to work with

Indeed featured review

The most useful review selected by Indeed
Can be tough at times, job is inherently dangerous given the nature of work, most co-workers are helpful, some are not. Stressful, but not unmanageable. Requires trust with co-workers.

Bad company to work for

Garda is not a good company to work. In my opinion it is not well managed. Employees are not treated with respect and equality. Managers choose faces to give good contracts "well paid".

Pros

I didn't see it

Cons

As explained on my review

they aren’t happy with your job performance, you’re blacklisted no question asked

Typicall day you’ll hardly get enough training of briefings to perform at job because you have the most incompetent people in charge or as supervisors

Good place to work

Good place to work but it is a union job and it doesn't matter how long you've been there you make the same as a rookie. Never dreaded going in to work and was over all a great experience. You can make a lot of money but you have to A. Get a chance at OT and B. Sacrifice all free time for the OT.

Pros

Good benefits package

Cons

Old equipment, disorganization, dangerous, doesn't pay enough for the risks

Lots of variety

Highest turn over rate of guards , mostly due to the low wages and almost never any overtime available. However they do have decent contracts, consistent work ...Mobile agent is the way to go if you like working alone, doing your own thing. You get a variety of places to look after , the runs aren't overly tight and there are lots of other mobile agents to assist with problems .. it's really not that bad , decent supervisors on mobile too.

Pros

Free uniforms, decent equipment, good management

Cons

No hope of a raise

Not even the greatest security employer

If you cannot commit to a 24/7 availability they will screw you around and cut back your hours until you have no choice but to quit in order to pay living expenses!

Pros

None

Cons

Being employed by Garada

Toxic environment and poor management "Team

Everything Is negative reinforcement based. Once they've got your number, it's just a matter of time before you're fired and replaced by a new, CATSA funded, fully trained and onboarded officer. They have no incentive to keep experienced officers when replacements are free. They do not care about their current employees. You are easily replaceable. In fact, they save money by replacing you. Many of the officers are great to work with, but the management is a joke! Such a stressful and toxic environment! Run away! Run far away!

Pros

Great colleagues.

Cons

High stress, no recognition, toxic.

A competitive work place environment with an opportunity to grow.

The entire experience has been pretty enriching but the entire process of getting into the management is pretty competitive and stressful. The experience is enriching in the terms of learning.

Best place to work

I have been working in security industry for over 5 years now. I spent 4 years in another security company and I got treated really bad. Since I started to work in Garda, I felt more like im at home.

Highly Unorganized. management is extremely for the most part lacking experience young without

Over worked and understaffed. Breaks are rarely on time and quite often staff are paid for missed or late breaks. The moral is very low. The management for the most part are young without any previous experience. The lack of knowledge leads to frustration within the work place.

Horrible place

Absolutely no support for a person with a disability, even when they were advised during interview . Upper management unskilled , zero customer service skills and if you were not part of the cool crowd well then count yourself out . GM was an embarrassment in the industry , very unfair, condescending and narsastic .

Think Twice

Union job. Required to work over time to complete jobs which is ok if you don't have kids or any other commitments. Jobs get re-posted every 4/6 months and positions are determined by how long you have been with the company (bidding). In many cases it rewards or keeps the wrong people in certain positions. The level of respect for individuals is low. Fast paced, repetitive, tight deadlines, procedures always changing, most of the people are easy to get along with, communication with management and positive results to concerns can be difficult to get....know your rights.

Pros

Evening staff are fun to be with

Cons

long hours, physically demanding, little breathing room, hard on over all health

Horrible company to work for no recognition.

Horrible company to work for, after leaving the Airport no one is required to have a security license. Even though its law federally across the country for everyone else. They do not put the training into their employees and the general attitude is that they do not care. Employee recognition programs for attendance are a huge joke, I never personally saw anything in over 5 years of working for them, No recognition after perfect attendance for over 5 years.

Pros

Left alone, seen no management at my site, no one cares

Cons

No breaks in 12 hours even though union CBA, no one follows the rules

discrimination against peoples with disabilities

Horrible place to be employed, they were fully aware of my disability and still chose to discriminate against me. Management was very clicky and only took care of the people in their group

Was a great experience

The local management team is great. They have and leaps and bounds in training and are continually coming up with new ideas. They work a 10 hour, rotating shift.

Good company to work for, but too much work for one person.

Very busy almost always to much for one person to fulfill the clients needs. You deal with multiple situations some dangerous, though the client does treat the staff good.

Pros

treated fairly by the client

Cons

too large of an area for one person

Fun place to work without any advancement

GardaWorld is a good place to work at if you do not worry about money or advancing. The job seems to be getting harder and harder with more responsibilities being added each time, but the pay rate does not increase.
