Bare minimum pay. Requires maximum effort
Meter Reader (Former Employee) –  Hamilton, ON23 January 2020
Place pays you as little as possible. expects you to walk 20-25km a day. no matter the weather. Treats you like a number. Expect to pay mostly your own money in gas to drive to Routes with very little compensation for using your own vehicle

says you will be working in such an such area in the Interview. Expect that to change

Expect most of what they tell you to change as they see fit

POLE TESTER/MANHOLE ASSISTANT (Former Employee) –  Waterloo, ON28 October 2019
A typical day of work for a pole tester would be to drive out to wherever the area of poles is, test them and move onto the next pole. to begin with, the worst part of the job is sometimes working outside in bad conditions or poles in bad locations. However, the best part of the job is the individual style work and the people also working at G-tel
Pros
individual work
Cons
weather and pole locations can cause problems

Damage Prevention Technician (Current Employee) –  Windsor, ON28 May 2018
Challenging locates, troubleshooting daily, travelling all over your assigned area. Dealing with contractors and private home owners to ensure proper locates. This job with this company is good for the transferable skill sets you obtain along with your certifications. You are grossly underpaid given your knowledge and responsibility, management is great but upper management is horrific and clueless.
Pros
Outdoors, company vehicle, overtime, skill set, training, coworkers
Cons
Poor pay, no advancement, clueless upper management, insulting production bonuses, bad weather

Damage Prevention Technician (Current Employee) –  Windsor, ON4 January 2017
Everyday provides a new challenge, no two job sites are the same. Each site gives its own challenges. Lots of troubleshooting required to complete a locate. Lengthy amounts of time spent alone in the car between traveling from site to site, reviewing records, submitting records and doing records corrections.
Feast or famine at times during seasons, deal with all sorts of weather obstacles as well as multiple different emergency scenarios requiring a level head and an open mind.
Pros
Company vehicle, decent benefits
Cons
work alone for long hours, poor upper management, unmanageable workloads at times
