Easy enough job, but incredibly dry

Working at FreshCo was a rather mixed experience. On one hand, the job itself was pretty easy, while on the other hand, the atmosphere and things about the location could be incredibly draining. Staff was fair and kind though.

Not a good first job

I worked here for a while. By the end of my time there I had gained more and more responsibilities almost weekly (taking over the managers duties) with zero pay upgrades. Managers were rude. Never believed you were doing enough yet you would be doing more than they would do in a week in one day. Managers would talk poorly about most employees if not all employees, just as long as they cared enough to learn your name. The sanitary state of the store is minimal.

Pros

sometimes got your breaks

Cons

long hours, bad pay, bad managers

Awful management

This location lacked with approachable management throughout the store. If you aren't a manager or a brown-noser, good luck. Promotions are almost impossible.

good enough

Working at Frescho has been an insightful experience. The company's commitment to fostering a collaborative environment stands out, as colleagues readily offer support and expertise. Management promotes professional growth by encouraging employees to take on new challenges and learn from them. However, there are occasional hiccups in communication between different departments, which could be streamlined for greater efficiency.Frescho's dedication to employee well-being is evident through its flexible work arrangements and wellness programs. The company values diversity and ensures an inclusive atmosphere where every voice is heard. The fast-paced nature of the retail industry can be demanding, but it also keeps the work dynamic and engaging. The training provided equips employees with the necessary tools to excel, although more continuous skill development opportunities would be beneficial. In conclusion, working at Frescho offers a rewarding journey with a supportive community. While there are areas that could be refined, the overall experience is positive, driven by a shared commitment to delivering quality service and products.

Perfect first job for students

It’s nice working here and the staff are nice. Perfect first job for students and able to be on sports teams during part time. Hours are pretty flexible

cheers

the only thing great about working here is the little 10% given to staff as employee discount. managers don't know how to talk to staff or customerscashiers always late calling in on a regular don't schedule enough staff on to workslavery work where the other staff doesn't pull their weight doing the work and it leaves you to do everything the work you put in is not appreciated!

Cons

slavery work for little pay, upper management don't respect staff, not allowed to purchase anything in the store even if you"re on break

Simple good cashier job

The job itself was easy just some customers are annoying. Memorizing the codes for every individual fruit/vegetable were probably the hardest part but you learn eventually.

Lots of work for minimum wage

So much work that you have to do and you get no benefits and it’s minimum wage… pretty much sums it up. You never get much better than $1 more an hour

Pros

Slow passed, not really rushed

Cons

Nasty foods, terrible customers for the most part, staff is mostly miserable

Your enjoyment of the job really depends on the manager

It was a decent, typical cashier job in a grocery store, but whether or not you had a good or bad experience was solely reliant on the manager. There was a lot of manager turnover while I was there. The last manager I had had little respect for employees. I'd be getting calls/texts at all hours of the night (11pm - 4am) regarding issues that should have been discussed while on shift, and they'd regularly try to give out terrible shift assignments to save money (such as two 4 hour shifts in one day set half an hour apart so they wouldn't have to give you the breaks you'd normally get on an 8-hour shift)

Pros

Got a lot of hours for a part-time job

Cons

Terrible management, no work-life balance

Cashier/ costumer service

Working there was alright. Not much to say it was a basic job Wait for customers and scan products and cash them out pretty simple.Availability is either open (they schedule you part time hours) or you're Availability is partial and you get less hours.

Pros

Water bottle right there wear you need it

Cons

No benefits. No full time.

Poor work environment

Overall unsafe. No health and safety codes are respected. Poor treatment of staff. Management is shady. Hires everyone as part time except managers so they don't have to give you benefits. Overworking and working overtime without pay.

Pros

None

Cons

Everything

Freshco Evanston

This franchise was definitely one of the places to work of all time. Almost always understaffed, overstaffed in the wrong places, treating employees like garbage, ignoring conflicts with coworkers, and management (the owner) will straight lie to you. The most enjoyable part of this job was a few standout people. Great to talk with, in and out of the store. But this was outweighed by a few "characters" that should've never been hired in the first place or at least stayed as long as they did. I would expect someone to be ready not to have their problems taken seriously by anybody in power at this store; just words, nothing more. On top of this, there are no shifts given for months at a time. Yet, you're expected to come in and look at your schedule (Not available to you online)

Pros

-Few notable people

Cons

-No hours -Management -Understaffed -fair amount of the people working

Stressful work environment

Management cared more about popularity that actual truth behind rumors and speculation. Front end manager promote and demote people within a small time frame.

Pros

Discount was nice

Cons

Favoritism by front end management

Cool co-workers, working there is a fun time

Working with mostly people my age. Working here feels almost like showing up to hangout with your friends until you forget to clock out and realize you’ve been at work.

Pros

Cons
